Had a minor brainwave and dug out my Profile#220. What did I find inside.. THIS!!

This shot shows clearly (as clearly as anything I've seen) that the motif nearest the wing LE is a crest and NOT a round badge. The Kings Crown can be seen on top NOW.. the question remains as to what Squadron the crest belongs to. I've tried hard to reconcile the dark lower (inner) area as the claws on the 24Sqn Blackcock but in all honesty.. I can't be certain.

The round motif with what looks more like the Airborne Division Pegasus than the Transport Command Gryphon underlined by the 24Sqn motto (widely shown online) comes from a colour plate in Profile#220 and is obviously not correct for KN628 though because this plate exists (and very little else does).. it has been taken as correct. The B&W phot proves it's inaccuracy

I have that issue also and here's a pick of the large round Blackcock? with no crest (1946). Will do a crest with crown version with different tail and wing decals (1948 Berlin flight).

Mr. Leith (Curator) of the RAF Museum provided the "The Royal Air Force Review" (October 1948) about the V.I.P Squadron. The cover shows the three crewman hand polishing a C-47. Grateful for his help with pics and both articles.

Changed the stars on both the door and tail, plus added reflection on the windows.

Mostly been working on the specular, but still some shiny area I need to dull.

Check out page 208, Monty's olive drab C-47. Can only see ***81 of the reg number, General Bradley is in the way.

Page 214 has Monty and crew standing in front of KN628 (1945) with black hub/props/spinners and no crest.

This will be the next version to do (1949). Paris video (1948) show a different C-47.

VH-ANQ [cn:3271] [sn:41-7686] was built as a DC-3-384 but impressed as C-49-DO at Douglas Aircraft, Long Beach, California in January, 1941. Delivered to the USAAC at San Antonio, Texas - February, 1941.
Arrived Brisbane (Archerfield) on delivery to 5th Air Force - September, 1942. Allocated to 374th Troop Carrier Squadron with radio callsign 'VHCDG', named 'Mucky Minnie'.
Delivered to CAC at Fisherman's Bend for transport conversion - January, 1943 and allocated to No 36 Squadron, RAAF.
Delivered to ANA at Brisbane (Archerfield) ex RAAF - April, 1944
Ferried Brisbane (Archerfield) - Sydney - Melbourne (Essendon) - April, 1944
Converted to civilian standards by ANA at Melbourne (Essendon) Airport [YMML], fitted with Wright Cyclone G1820-65 engines.
Operated by ANA on night courier flights for the Allied Directorate of Air Transport using call-sign 'VHCDG'. Deemed surplus to requirements and was sold to Australian National Airways - December, 1945.
Entered onto the AAR as VH-ANQ (CofR 984) - May, 1946 and Registered to Australian National Airways Pty Ltd.
Converted to DC-3 standards by ANA at Brisbane with Wright Cyclone R1820-97 engines and was named 'Dromana' (pelican).
Registered to Ansett-ANA - October, 1957 and Commenced operations with Ansett-ANA Victorian Air Coach Services - December, 1961.

Really beautiful repaints guys, thanks for going them!

I have already far too many C47s on my hard disk. I thought the V3 version would reduce the number of repaints as I could get rid of my V1 and V2 models. But in fact things only got worse.......

Certainly understand the problem Huub.

I have the hangar moved to a location outside of FSX, and load the textures I want to use for a specific flight. That keeps FSX load times low.

Currently my C-47 folder is 8.5 gig ....though much of that is my saving a psd [psp] paint kit file for each of my paints...

For now I'll stick to this one and making certain improvements... still I can see more improvements that can be done especially with rivets on the wings. I bumped the stock rivets in PS, but may create some new small rivets since this is 4k repaint. Vents added near the improved fuel caps.
