Douglas DC-5

Has anyone done a DC-5 with a VC? I have JR Lucinary's 5, but it has no VC. I have looked and looked and not seen one....hoping there is one on some obscure site (and hopefully the only one in existance was not on AVSIM).

OBIO

That is the only one I am aware of. Wayne Tudor did a major overhaul on it at one point (at Flightsim I hope). No VC of course.

I've got it but converted it to AI. If you can't find the complete package, let me know.

I have Lucinary's DC-5 in stock form (Japanese paint) but was hoping that there was one with a VC out there somewhere. I like flying from the VC and generally don't keep planes that don't have one...even a simple and basic VC is better than no VC in my book. Starting out with CFS2, the notion of clickable switches, moving controls, animated key chains hanging from the ignition key (yes, that has been done...in one of Bill Lyons planes...that guy really was ahead of the times in the stuff he did with his planes and scenery)...is still new to me, so I don't get bent out of shape over a VC that does not come with a microwave and a CD player built into the dash.

In rare cases, I will keep a non-VC plane if it is the only one going....such as Mike Stone's Curtiss AT-9 Fledgling. So, I guess Lucinary's DC-5 will have to stay put and get some new skins done up. Hmmm...I wonder if I can make it reflective.......

OBIO

Yes, you can make it reflective with Ivan Hsu's Shine program, or with Shiny, Jeff Delhaye's Windows interface version of Shine. They're available here at SOH.

Wayne Tudor made some nice repaints of this model, including a Marine Corps R3D. He made a few errors on the R3D that were easily corrected in my personal copy; just a few minor markings that were mislocated or missing.

I have the DC-5 shining like a new penny...well, a new dime actually, since it is silver. Of course, I could do a copper clad transport....I think that just might be a challenge I have to undertake.
