DXTbmp not saving files correctly

When using it, im importing a different alpha channel. When I save it, it doesnt save the new alpha channel, it reverts to the previous alpha. Has anyone experienced this?

Im on w10, ive tried using the program under admin and under different compatibility conditions and have got all the latest dll's from the mwgfx website but no luck. cheers

I've come across this as well on a few occasions. If I recall correctly, I saved the initial texture as a targa file, reopened the tga, imported the new alpha channel, and saved as either a bmp or dds file depending on which one was needed. Hope this helps.

Thanks mate. Yes i eventually "tricked" dxtbmp into saving it correctly. Ill give your method a go next time :)

would you consider sharing the correctly saving 'trick'? having a bit of a similar issue, likewise, on Win 10 with editor modified textures and alphas re-imported into DXTBmp but none of the edits are saved; defaults right back to the originals. Accordingly, any advise would be greatly appreciated!

hey wolfebee, i used the default ms paint. for some reason it doesnt always like when using paint.net/ps
I use MS Paint for some of my texture work. Way back when I had my Win7pro rig I hated the then-new Paint with all it's clutter and bloat. So I made a copy of Paint and set its compatibility to Win XP. I call it OldPaint and I use it in my current Win10pro rig, and it's perfectly compatible with DXTbmp. Try it, you'll probably like it.

For things that Paint can't do I use Paint Shop Pro 7 and that's also compatible with DXTbmp without any fiddling with compatibility settings.

Old programs for an old sim in an aging operating system. All so very appropriate for an old pixel wrangler.
