Given the other thread has gone SO of topic it's silly, I thought it might be wise to summarise the pros and cons of the IRIS F-16 for those wanting good and bad points...
Now I've read through all the posts on the two F-16 threads and have summarised the relevant points in relation to the product.
These points are YOUR opinions and many may be down to personal views, however it's only fair they be aired in a consise way...
PROS:
1. Some users feel the bump mapping is correct for a modern day fighter.
2. Droppable ordnance and CCIP feature seems to be a hit.
3. Effective and accurate night lighting
4. IRIS Performance Manager provides customised performance increases for differing systems which helped a number of customers enjoy the product more.
5. Intensive systems modelling for a more accurate rendition of the F-16D than previously seen.
6. Lower polygon count than comparitable products provides better performance on some systems.
7. Lovely flight model with coded FCLS provides a realistic feel.
8. Clear, easy to read gauges.
9. Good soundpack.
CONS:
1. Bump mapping not as pronounced as people are used to from other aircraft.
2. Some users can't justify the cost when they already have an F-16C from Aerosoft.
3. Some don't like the hand-drawn look of the IRIS F-16D cockpit over the photoreal look seen on the Aerosoft F-16C.
4. Pilot's aren't animated apart from the head movement.
5. Missing canopy transparency bolts.
6. Use of high resolution 2D gauges caused poor FPS on some systems prior to the performance manager release. (links with PRO: point 4.)
7. Slightly expensive in US dollars due to the current exhange rates, with IRIS being an Australian based business.
8. Lower polygon count than the Aerosoft F-16C reduces the visual quality which some may look for as a priority.
I've tried my best to take your opinions and summarise them without being biased.. Needless to say, my own aren't taken into account.
