F1: Mercedes admits driver lineup may be different in 2015

Looking forward to see what the young Dutchman will be up to in the near future. Don't expect miracles at 7 years and a few days.

23 laps without any fault, 12th time only 0.4 behind his team mate and Vettel without trying to do a quick lap; I am definitely impressed again! :jump:

Idiotic protest going on by Force India against STR, they are claiming a 5 second stop go penalty against Vergne in Singapore was .6 of a second short!
:banghead:
Max Verstappen did look pretty good, until he blew something in the power pack!
Not sure why all the fuss, his Father was a good journey man driver, nothing special.
Hamilton and Honda?
I don't think so, Honda are ultra conservative, I doubt they would be keen on Hamilton's 'Rock Star' image, and they do like to call the shots when it comes to who wins what.
Remember Mansell and Piquet in 1986 and '87?
Piquet was their 'preferred driver' and Frank Williams pig headed attitude cost the team Honda power at the end of the 1987 season.
That aside, would McLaren really want him back??
If Nico wins the title this year and Hamilton does a dummyspit, his credibility as a 'mature' adult would be well undone.
Alonso might be thinking hard on his future with Ferrari but IMHO he is better off staying on, the 'Iceman' is and I believe the management shakeup will be settled rapidly.
The 2015 car might just be a good one ........ :encouragement:

Hold on a second....
If the situation were reversed from the first race of the season, I'm not so sure Nico would have been able to come back and lead the championship like Lewis did....

Ed, let's not overlook the Singapore round, Nico was SOL, but then again, Lewis has had more than his share of trouble and strife as well.

However .............!
Interesting news breaking overnight.
Alonso has been signed by HONDA so he will be with MacLaren next year.
Vettel is off to Ferrari for 2015+, he supposedly signed on three years ago to the effect that if/when he left Red Bull he was all Ferrari's.
The numbers being bandied about start in the region of $75,000,000+!

Daniil Kvyat will be promoted to Red Bull as #2 to Daniel Ricciardo.

With Max Verstappen at STR as a complete rookie it would be wise IMHO to keep Jean-Eric Vergne on board, he's been quick and quicker this year, to good to just drop.

All of which rather leaves Hamilton with no real choice, if Williams were smart they should get rid of Massa and take Hamilton on at a reduced salary.(Compared to what he is currently receiving)
Or, even if Nico does take the Championship, Lewis should just suck it up, grow a set and get on with the job next season.

Rosberg looked smooth and unruffled during qualifying, Lewis was over driving the car(again) and looked uncomfortable.
Alonso hauled his Ferrari further up the grid than it should be (HONDA observers would be impressed!) while Bottas was quicker and smoother than Massa.
Ricciardo looked very comfortable compared to Vettel who was outpaced by both McLarens and Kimi elected to stay indoors, given the unknown weather situation this might have been a wise move.

Interesting grid, six Mercedes engines, two Ferraris and two Renaults in the top ten.

The 'eye' of the looming typhoon is supposedly due around the middle of the day, optimists are predicting the race will be run and won before it picks up again.
I don't think so!
:biggrin-new:

I really think Lewis has helped Nico's performance.
Up until Lewis, Nico has never had to dig deep to find out who he is and what he's capable of.

Lewis on other hand had to first dig deep while at McLaren battling Alonso and now again at Mercedes battling Nico.

Speaking of which.

This is the first time Vettel has had to dig deep & we can see that he doesn't like it.
