F7F Tigercat New VC for FSX & P3D

Update:

I've been down the rabbit hole, converting all of my modeling for the new 64bit platforms.

To answer Yoyo's question, the F7F translated to v4 perfectly. There are some rather extensive tweaks needed for the 3DS Max model to work in the new SDK, but the changes won't affect the existing model in a negative way. The model was built with 64bit taken into consideration.

I installed the new GTX1080 TI GPU this week, so now I can look at making some good video of the Tigercat in P3Dv4 in full immersive mode. The early test edits are very nice.

Thanks for your patience guys, and ladies, my work load is gigantic and the 64bit conversion of the work is a bit like eating a herd of elephants. lol

:encouragement:

Gordon, well done! Very good to hear that is running without issues for you in v4. If you ever want any details from F7F "Bad Kitty" it's on the field here and I can grab photos of it almost anytime... Unless they fly out out for winter storage early!

I would dearly love some cockpit details, and other bits like landing gear etc. I'm building a new exterior model as well, so details are in the queue.
I've got four VC models working in the Kitty, one of them based on Bad Kitty photos, but those assets are not comprehensive. Anything would be greatly appreciated and welcome.

Thanks Rick...:very_drunk:

I thought I saw a video on YouTube with this VC already installed, somewhere.

I've been updating all of my work to 64-bit, including the Tigercat VC. Much of the work involves building the new lighting for night ops, and coding the model for the updated SDK.

This is the most recent video, but the work has progressed quite a bit since then. I'll put together an updated vid showing the 64-bit updates in P3Dv4. Since I updated the GPU, video will be much higher quality than this particular vid.

Gman this looks so incredibly awesome. Thanks for all your hard work! My all time favorite plane. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Good evening,Gman,

-Really very nice work for those who use P3D !!!!:applause:
But what about for FSX users?
Will there be an adapted version?
Congratulations for this job!

Alain

Gman, if you're looking for testers for P3D v4.1, I just downloaded the original conversion and have been flying it, and I'd be happy to help test the 64-bit update. P3D 4.1, Core i7-7700K, GTX 1080.

And THANK you for all of the hours (years!) you've put into this! I just read the topic from start to finish and it's been amazing watching this come together.

Very nice indeed.

The F7F was/is a favorite aircraft! The original cockpit frame on page one of the thread could be made into a first class Dilbert Dunker!

Great update project!

Egad, how I hated that thing!
I've never held my breath longer. I almost reached for the safety diver, but you know how young Marines are. We're indestructable, and no way my pride would let me reach for help. Until I had drowned, anyway :biggrin-new:
I made it but I was getting pretty desperate for air when I popped up-n-out. I was sure glad I was a trained scuba diver. Helped me keep my head underwater.
Pensacola. All contained in a BIG pool. Fun fun fun.
I got to take the dunk because an old-time friend of my father was OIC Survival Training School. I took some leave, and he ran me through almost all of it. Including SEER School. Amazing how many bugs you find to eat in the swamps around Pensacola...:mixed-smiley-027:

Sorry, memories...
Pat☺

Is this project still alive? I was kinda looking forward to this one. It was looking so great!

Paul:

As I remember you did some of the original VC upgrades to this great bird. Always one of my favorite fliers! When one of the prototypes was turned over to the navy test pilot for a wring out, after the flight the Navy pilot gave Corky Meyers a long tirade about this and that, then broke into a smile and said "Best damn fighter I've ever flown".

Cheers: Tom

Hey Tom,

Yep, I did the "panel art", such as it was, and cobbled together some gauges from some of Milton's other projects, and glued them all into what Milton always said was a temporary VC, which would suffice until he got around to building a proper one. Between Milton's 3D modeling, your flight modeling, and the recent external texture upgrades, I would echo Mr. Meyers with the ship as she stands today. :) But this project was looking especially nice, and I'd hate to see it die just as it seemed about to be ready for release.
