Fairchild Boxcar C119--"Flim Prop" ENGINES WILL NOT START

I DL Mr Yamamoto's C-119 which was re-painted by Mr Francis F. Silva in which the engines were modified and engine specifications revised to more powerful engines--100% higher power output, the engines compression ratio was increased to a staggering 14:1 that would give the C119 higher altitude...but the only problem is the engines will not start...maybe I am the only one having this problem as no one else has had any issues in starting the engines I guess..I am just completly puzzled by this.

Are you trying for a manual start with master battery, fuel mixture, magnetos, fuel pumps, etc., or are you using Ctl-E to try and start the engines?

Never downloaded that particular mod. The R3350s were amongst the most tweaked piston engines in service so doubling their power output somehow was just too far in the outlandish side for my personal taste.
A while back there was a thread with considerable modifications to the C-119 air and cfg files by a few SOH folks that actually managed to get the great visual model to finally fly very close to the book.
I would suggest doing a search for those mods.

Thank you all for your replies, Hi Jagdflieger! I have tried starting it with manual and also useing Control E...nothing happens. I will try and contact the auhor. And always tank you for making the dive bomb mission by the Marine SBDs for CFS2.

That's the one....flies perfectly with all the included modifications. Proving yet again the great community resource that is SOH.

Updated Flight Model and CFG Files

Andy,

Thanks for posting that link to the C-119 thread. I folowed the posts and downloaded the updated FM and it has really improved the old Dollar Nineteen's behavior. It's amazing how much combined knowledge there is here.

That is what I love about this site, the wealth of knowledge and the way that knowledge and experience is shared so unselfishly for the benefit of all. :applause:
