Out of wondering, i know a lot of us here like the 1950's golden age of commercial aviation. I have my favorite paint schemes that was worn on this wonderful birds. Mine was Pan American World Airlines. So I was just wondering what are some of the other favorite dresses these old girls wore that really made you smile? This old PAA dress looked good on many airplanes.

Great pics Cowboy1968 , some of my favorites to . I must ask you where you got that great looking water ? It's the best I've seen . I , along with many others have experimented with about all of them and this in my opinion is outstanding .

I believe the textures came in the Silver Wings package. I have my graphics set to max. running through 4 Gig of RAM and a duel core processor. The GPU is a Nvidia 9500GT with 512 mb of VRAM
 
also I wanted detail in the pics so most are shot at low altitudes as you can tell when flying by the golden gate in the L049
 
I thought it looked like Bill Lyons water. It comes in Golden Hawaii, Classic Goose, Golden Wings and Silver Wings. I've been using it since Golden Hawaii first came out.

I the old BOAC paints myself... and TWA... and Eastern Silver Fleet... and Pan American... and American.. and.......

Reason? I used to see them when I was a kid with my nose just over the chain link fence at the gates at Sacramento Municipal (now Executive). :)

Nice pix, Cowboy...but I believe the livery on the DC-3 is incorrect; they were phased out before that livery was introduced. The livery on the L-049 Connie is closer to what the Gooney Birds wore late in their PAA lives -- but in dark blue, not the awful royal blue sported by the Connie in your sceenie.

My first-ever flight was on a PAA DC-4 (Clipper Messenger, N88912-- actually a C-54B-20-DO ex USAAF 44-9009) in the summer of 1948, LGA to SJU (TJIG) -- 8 hours at 8,000 ft with my nose stuck to the window all the way. And yes, we were given the small, yellow two-packs of Chiclets. :jump:

If my research is correct.....PAA operated both the C-46s and DC-3 in their Latin American divisions well into the 1950's. Even if the scheme isn't accurate....she still looks good in that dress.....lol
