File Library Teams

I don't think the order from the old library is important to the new library to be honest. The order of the old library is important for the people transferring files so that the library remains constant (i.e. no deleting files and changing the order until AFTER all the files have been transferred). The order in the new library is likely to be reversed at best because if you start at page one in the old library you are working from the newest entry to the oldest, but in the new library the new files are added as file #1 each time so the new library is essentially in reverse order compared to the old one. Having multiple people uploading in a random order is fine as someone using the the new library is likely to search via file name, description and/or tag line so the numeric position of the file within the library in terms of upload date etc. is irrelevant as the software should find it regardless of it's order in the library.
Ah Ok, I give it a go from page 50 ;)

Ed (falcon409), Martin (Klein) and myself have collaborated to complete the 'FSX Military skins - WWII' section! The old section can now be safely deleted from the old library (or left to disappear when the server goes away at the end of the month).

It would appear that these are the only sections that have files remaining:

'FSX Civilian prop skins' - Listed as 441 items but unknown what has been transferred already and what remains.
'FSX Military skins - Cold War' - Only one file but it is a known problem as the zip comes in as a zero-byte file (i.e. corrupt) and no replacement file has been found anywhere.
'CFS 3 Netwings Add-ons/Netwings Missions' - Listed as 33 items but unknown what has been transferred already and what remains.

It Seems Kevin "KDriver" is working on CFS3/Netwings missions actually

Ian and I are working the FSX civil [tp[ skins, I was to start with page 24 this morning, but page 22 is the last page available in the old database. On top of that it looks like Ian ended completing Page 17 (he emailed me) and I assume he completed the whole page, but his last transfer is now the last entry on page 15. So, to me it looks like the deletions being performed behind us got ahead of itself and we have now lost all of what was on Page 24 of the old database. my last transfer from Page 26 was "texture.N9935F", a Cessna, which was the name of the actual file not the entry as I don't have that. All I can do is start with page 22 go from there with even pages (I am doing even and Ian the Odd pages). Also given that Ian's last transfer is now the Last on page 15, instead of first on page 17, there may be other issues.
Al

Al, Page 24 was transferred to the new library. Cessna N9935F is in the new library.
I cross check every download before deleting them from the old library.
As Ian and you are transferring them in chronological order from oldest to newest, the deletions are done from oldest to newest as well. I don't skip ahead with the deletions if Ian is in front of you. That way the page numbering remains the same.

Thats deliberate on my part, i actually did one file from the bottom of page 15 as a marker, so that its clear were to jump back in---

Douglas C-47 TAA VH-AEQ 50th Anniversary.zip 2024-07-

everything seems on track on my end, i just havent been doing much this weekend

ok, I had 24 as next marked on the paper I keep track of what to start on next. and given 22 was as far back as I could see I could only assume it had not been transferred. If you say it was then I must have done 24 as well before I shut down Friday. I thought the above file I gave you was on page 26 not 24 but if it was on 24 I guess I transferred that page as well. Glad we didn't loose a page.

Hi Al, my way of working is to do 1 page off 20 file's at a time, and one file from the next page marker as a start point from the next page, i assume you work roughly the same way, so it seems odd that your last file is roughly half way down the page, that made me think who ever is following us is a little trigger happy

I complete each page and generally leave my screen at the top of the page I just finished or at the bottom of the next page I am to start. I also tend to write down on paper in front of me the page i am on and then cross it out when finished. However Friday I had written down that page 24 would be next and this morning I jumped around looking for where you left off and didn't notice where I had left the screen on the old database side thus the last screen was now 22. I keep all the files i am transferring on my more than half empty 2TB sold state drive so I looked for the last file I transfer but of course I could not tell the page it came from only whether it was transferred. Since they deleted to page 22 I had no way of knowing whet the last page was I transferred except what I wrote down. It seems I must have transferred and additional page after I wrote "24 Next" down if they are telling me they have page 24.

I start page 12 tomorrow.

And all odd FSX Civil Propeller skins page's also, guess that means were done :)
i could'nt transfer these two, top of page 3, there in 7z , and i have a really old version of Winzip that cant handle them---

Well done Ian!
I've managed to extract those two with another program, so I'll upload them as zip files.
Thanks a lot chaps. (y)
