File Library Teams

Hi All
It seems that you will have to delete and start again with the .zip files
Oh Well!

Stuart, I deleted it and started again as you say, happily I realised it quickly after I saved, and had only two to do again.

HI all,

I've noted that we are all not using the same method to move the file image to the new server. If only copying moving the thumbprint over the images are going to be small and sometimes not very good. The way to get the best picture is to right click the expanded original image and save it to temp folder. When ready to copy it to the new server click open the drop image icon and then click on the image you saved. It will then import the original screenshot of the file which is usually a larger picture. It makes a big difference.

I'm probably being too fussy, but I'm finding even some of the original pictures are not big enough, so I've enlarged them in Photoshop.

CFS 2 VB Planes DONE! It order is all scuffed as I stared on the 1st page by mistake so I kept working back than somehow I missed like 5 aircraft on page 2 that are now at the front of the list.

Thanks Allen.

Would you please update your instruction PDF a bit. It's great but needs one more piece of information added to get the authors names in. See here:
View attachment 98325
Click on the 3 dots which will open. Choose Reassign resource and it will let you remove you as the author and type or paste in the file authors name. Save and then you are done.

Thank you for doing it.
oops!
Missed this.
I will try to go back and reassign.
Cheers

Hello everyone, I am starting to upload the Mas legacy, I will edit this post when I am done.

Edit: Mas section done, if a staff member wants to check if everything is as it should be please do. If everything is OK I volunteer to do the Usio and Yashico legacy section.

Please see the post above about how to include the images to get the full size rather than the smaller thumbnail.

I'm already starting work on the Yashico Legacy. It's all I have time for before leaving this week until the 15th.

Thanks

Back in the last time we did this in 2012 user no loner apart of SOH had there files give to the user NMG meaning "Non-Member Group" I have done this for files that we don't have a user for as well. Others are doing the same.
Thanks Allen
I wondered who NMG was!

Ok I think I understand where I messed up. I didn't save the enlarged thumbnails in the old library (the + button below the thumbnail), gonna modify that.

Edit: Ok Mas legacy section is done (hopefully the images are right this time), I'm starting the Usio legacy section (the enlarged thumbnails are quite small though).

Had some troubles with my Internet connexion today, I am half way done in the Usio legacy section, I will finish it tomorrow.

SOH it self seem to have been a bit spotty the last 3 or so hours so it could all not be on your end.

Guys,

I can start with the British Aircraft section this evening if that's okay?

Just to clarify about uploading the pictures, p to now I did it the way it is described in Allen's PDF. Is this also good, or is the way Kurt described in the post above the only correct way to do it?

It would be nicer if you saved the larger image but say saving the larger image takes an extra 3 sec to click the magafing glass, wait for the box to do its fancy expand thing than save. (I did test and time using 1024x768 image vs the already loaded thumbnail. It added 3 sec) Multiply 3 by 390 (the number of Brit aircraft) you just added 19.5 min.

I my self am NOT saving the large images. If I had done large images for the US aircraft I would have wasted 25 min just in waiting for box to do its fancy expand thing. When I'm on a roll I can upload a file every minute. So a loss of 25 min in wait times puts me behind a whole page.

I also marked you down for the Brit aircraft @skylane

Sorry Allen, IMHO 25 minutes is a very small price to provide decent sized images for 500 files. Especially since the thumbnail is so small you can hardly tell what the file contains until you open it up. I think it's about providing some quality to what we're doing, and what we want this place to look like. All the sections I have done have the larger image that was available - well over 500 files. Don't want this to be a fight, it's just my viewpoint.

Wolfgang, I'd appreciate you doing the larger images, but it's up to you.

Nobody is doing the skins sections much yet, but when we get to them I think it is important to have the larger image there too. So as to be able to see what a skin looks like to decide whether to download it or not.

I'm traveling for the next 7 days. I'll be back on the 15th. Save some for me.
