Fixed WW1 .MDLs for Stuart Green aircraft

Hi Guys, I've tried renaming the sim title in the Aircraft file as BnV suggested (SG_Snipe_CFS2) but with no luck. Also tried SG_Sopwith_Snipe_CFS2 as in the model folder and renaming the airfile and DP files to suit to no avail. What am I doing wrong :isadizzy:?

The name should be Sop_Snipe for the aircraft folder. that was the original name. the sim name should be Sopwith_Snipe.

if you ever want to rename the sim name just look at the "MODEL" cfg. that contains the name.

Textures. use the dxtbmp editor - open the texture than save as "extended bitmap" - save type as "extended 16bit-565" keep the name the same and allow to overwrite. that will get rid of the alpha channel. and the transparent texture will be fixed. you will have to do that for all of the textures. they can be saved to DXT1 no alpha but the 565 looks better IMO.

i guess we have to look at the folders for that one.

Hi Watchdog,
There's an extra underline (underscore) in the sim name - SG__Snipe_CFS2. Alternatively you can rename the air and dp files as Sopwith_Snipe and leave the aircraft.cfg file alone.
 
Here you go. should be all fixed.
I renamed it all back to the original names and fixed the textures. take a look and if its good than could someone update the upload.

Thanks Blood_Hawk, this has worked for me. The only issue I found is that there are black splotches on the windscreen in VC,

Yes there are splotches on the windscreen. its part of the SNIPE_INTERIOR2 texture. there is one of two ways to fix this, if you don't like it that is.

1. open the texture in dxtbmp editor and save it as a 565. which will give you an all black screen.

2. repaint the part in the texture (or you can do the alpha channel) and remove the splotch effect.

If i do mine i'll post it.

At first, thank you for these nicely converted CFS2 models, I really like the Fokker and Snipe!

I have some troubles with the Pfalz and the Albatros. I tried to install the Pfalz but I can't choose it in the CFS2 menu for a quick combat, as well as the Albatros. Why are the Snipe, Roland and Fokker available, but the Albatros and the Pfalz not? Is there something which has to be changed?
The Pfalz download package should be "ready-to-fly", isn't it?

I'm actually working on the Pfalz right now. should have it ready soon. I'll have the Albatros ready soon as well (Albatros DV is my personal favorite).


Make sure the sound is aliased correctly. and you have her named right in the aircraft.cfg. and for quick combat you will have to use the QC editor.
 
I uploaded the Pfalz to SOH a while ago with a new skin, look in my downloads. Blood_Hawk23's new improvements will be sweet indeed. The converted Fokker DVII is a vast improvement on Stuart Green's CFS2 specific D-7 hopefully it isn't too far down on the Que.

I've worked over some of the details. even checked others that i've overlooked before. She flys nice and is fairly stable. not the fastest plane but climbs very well. give her a try and let me know what you think.

Is this one a Multi LOD?
i seem to get a bit of a frame rate hit when fighting a bunch in QC.

I hope to get the Albatros done soon as well. I'll look into to the Fokker. actually i might have that one already.
 
Who can help make a new panel and VC for SG's Albatros DIII. I'm making an attempt but its not realy my thing.

I have the DP, air and CFG nearly complete.

having a little issue with the handling but i might have it sorted out. going to send it to Allen for his review. hope to complete her by monday at the latest.
 
The Albatros DIII is nearly finished and up is for review.

Allen has done work with the MDL and getting the VC to display properly. He also did some work on the 2D panel by adding the engine controls and alighning the gauges to the VC. Thank you Allen.

i've done all that i can with her. she should have a new 2D panel painted up. You can't see the crosshairsfor the guns. She could probly use a little more work on the guns to get them aimed abit better. but outside of that, she handles great and looks very nice.

Not sure if she is an AI type of plane. probly work best as a player aircraft. I have flown her in QC with some mixed results. the AIs handled her ok but tended to stay below 2,000'. i could lower the MOIs some more. i'm not sure that would help all that much as they are already low.

she needs more work before uploading; needs a new readme with credits and where to get the gauges (gauges are from aerocrate's) and what ever else you can think of. Here she is for review.

the Fokker DVII is getting close. she needs some VC work. this one realy needs a new panel. I'll use the one she has for now. Allen if its ok with you, i want to use your engine control setup. i hope to get her done soon.

Panel for Albatross

There is a nice Albatross panel by Morton. It can be DL'ed from thefreeflightsite.com, and I'm sure there are many more out there, since this was one of the most important fighters of WW1. But I believe that in the past I flew the SG plane in its original sim, and had to adjust the sight - maybe it is just a minor adjustment problem that one of you Gurus can fix, using the original panel?

did anyone make a new DP for the Caudron. I want to use it in my belgian missions. I want to use it for the French Belgian C74 Squadron based in Hondschoote. I might do a couple of missions that involve either flying a Caudron or escorting them. maybe coming to their aid.

I have one the Cody sent me but its not realy for the caudron. I could modify the FE2's DP. but if its already be done it would save some time.
