I read once that the Twin Beech has more modification STCs approved than any other aircraft.

I've seen Matt Younkin perform many times, and it is amazing every time. The sound of those twin high speed props is just awesome. And, except for the lights and smoke system, this aircraft is 100% stock! Looking forward to your paint job.

Just uploaded Magic by Moonlight. Awaiting ok from Rami. Tried to make her perfect. Hope I was successful. Thanks again to Milton, Dave and Bjoern for a fantastic aircraft.

The original upload didn't have the textures in texture.moonlight. That is corrected and re-uploaded. Sorry. Thanks to Steve / Spaceweevil for the heads up.

Still waiting for the lunatic to cover all of them for a consumer flight simulator.


I'm mildly amazed that so many Beech 18s are (still) flying in private hands. Okay, over 9000 of them were made, but I've always considered them nothing more than warbirds by now like the DC-3.
Low operating costs and parts that can easily be remanufactured, I guess?

Interior Redesign

I've been mucking about with the portover cargo amphib interior a bit and decided I prefer wood grain.

Moonlight

Thanks Tom,

BTW, I had to change the texture name from "D18X-Moonlight" to "texture.moonlight" - it wouldn't show in my P3D preview till I changed the name. Nice job :encouragement:

Hope everyone enjoys this version the the great D-18S. I saw Matt Younkin fly this beauty at Oshkosh this past year. He does some fantastic flying in his Magic by Moonlight.
 
She use to be known as "Miss Ellie" before she became "Magic by Moonlight". Same "Ellie" different name.

Younkin was at a nearby airshow a couple of years ago. His flying made the show for me.
 
RCAF 400 Squadron

From the Flightsim library:
"FSX RCAF Beech C-45 Expeditor 1534. A repaint an RCAF aircraft of 400 City of Toronto Squadron for the Milton Shupe and Scott Thomas Beechcraft D18S, adapted for FSX by David Caroll (B18DC05.ZIP). Repaint by Grant MacLean.

I was pleasantly surprised that this repaint worked fine with Bjoern's updates.

This is a blast from my past. Back in 1958-1960, while I was in high school in Toronto, I joined the Air Force Reserve as an apprentice electrician in 400 Squadron, based at Downsview (CYZD).

Every weekend was spent climbing in and around the C-45s, checking the electric system and topping up the batteries. Occasionally one of the weekend warrior pilots would invite us for a "flip" around Toronto or across the country.

Now, it's nice to actually fly one, virtually.

Anyone repainting the cabin should maybe hold off for a bit. I want to remap the cabin to obtain a better and more consistent texture layout which should make repainting easier; especially the nasty slope in the rear part.
 
The reworked cabin is mapped on a single 2048 px bitmap and is cut up into floor, walls, ceiling and bulkheads which are individually repaintable and the same scale. I hope that this will facilitate (and encourage?) cabin repaints.
Anybody willing to prematurely dive in and prepare some repaints (without a model to check it in, but with a wireframe layer and annotations as guides)?
My initial attempt at textures was two hours worth of work.


And any interest in a commuter/high density cabin variation without lavatory and three more seats?
