FJ Fury

With a little finageling you can even get the Section F8 Sabre to catapult off and trap aboard a carrier by installing the appropriate software (RCBCO). You'll be lacking the tailhook but otherwise it works just as if it had all the carrier paraphernalia. The Navy and USMC did fly the F-86 as an interim measure, and there are USN/USMC textures available for this aircraft. There are a few Furies available as well, I recall Ito-San even did a straight-wing FJ-1.

My evaluation of a certain FSX F86 under testing at the moment (with very good flight dynamics) using critera of the Naval Test Pilot School was that it had phase one difficency in laterl stability for low speed, high AOA carrier approaches (Not Fully Good...). The Fury which must have had a lot of modifiaction did not seem to draw great favor over a long time as a carrier plane, though once airborne it was a pretty good ride. The Panther and following Cougar remained much longer, I even fly wirth guys who flew the F9F!

Yes, would be nice to have one! T

There are repaints available for the SectionF8, Virtavia, and Kirk Olsson F-86s to give you something resembling the FJ-3. No tailhooks though. As has been mentioned they will all fly from carriers fine with the proper gauge packs installed.

vstudios is currently working on a FJ 4 Fury

NOTE : Sorry, this is for FSX only :kilroy:

Er, given the topic of this forum, bit of a pointless reply I think.

I don't have X running on my system because, my system can't run it, but does run the demo (go figure?)
and at present a PC upgrade "just to play a game on " ( Mrs Pete) is not in family budget.

Rant over

Hope that you can eventually get FSX going, somehow. Even my laptop runs it pretty well. The acceleration version seems to run faster than the basic version, and has the advantage of moving carrier operations. There are a couple of quite excellent carriers available for period operations from WWII, Korea and 70's on, though we are currently lacking a good Exxex angle deck conversion.

Glad to hear Deano and the crew is working on the FJ, a continuation of their series of classic Naval Aircraft!

Cheers: T

IIRC Section F8 had a number of additional F-86 versions coming, and I think a naval version was one of them. For some reason they're dead in the water right now. There hasn't been a recent post at their site in a long time.:icon_eek:
