Flight Replicas L-4 Released!

I don't officially work for the guys at SkyUnlimited or Flight Replicas, but man I would like that arty. I'm going to be building another WWII movie in the future (hopefully start on it in January). I could REALLY have some fun with that, and I have ideas springing up quickly with that L-4 and that arty would make a perfect match.

Great idea! Hopefully you guys can work something out.

This model looks beautiful in the pictures here. I am a wee bit lots busy right now with other things, but this plane could definitely sit at the top of my waiting list for a while...

Hello Mike,

I built these models of an 105mm howitzer and explosion effect and jeep drivers for the SU LT-6G FAC. My thinking was that they could be used to help re-create scenes of artillery liason for the plane to fly around in.

If you like, I could ask Jesse if he would be interested in bundling them with your L-4 as well as the T-6G.

That way CodeValkyrie could get his hands on them without having to wait for me to finish the T-6 :jump:

Sounds like perhaps someone familiar with mission building could do something with those excellent howitzers. That would be a very interesting thing to do.

A small thing that I love about this aircraft is the radio antenna when viewed from spot view :mixedsmi:

Can the prop texture be changed? I know Mike likes to have it just as a disc so I'm unsure whether to get this unless I can put the kind of prop texture I like on it. Thanks. :ernae:

Sorry Bob, sure wish we could get a more realistic propwash, the disk doesn't slow down or speed up, it just does not look real. But a stunningly beautiful piece of poly-work nonetheless and she flies like a dream. The prop doesn't bother me in the VC where I most times fly, only in the Spot view. And like Panther, I just love that big old whip antenna! :icon_lol:

I tried a substitution but there was no rotation.

I can put the rotation in there, if you like - let me put it on an update list. Those who enjoy a 'film-and-photo-prop' may as well have their thing, too. Can someone send me a prop texture to try out?

I just applied an alpha to your prop disk Mike. I understand the purist view of a disk rather than the strobe effect produced by film footage but frankly, even as a 56 year old, the vast majority of props I have seen have been on film or video.

Not a problem, Roger, this hobby is about enjoyment. I just need someone to send me a complete strobe-type prop texture, to the support address, to make sure I don't screw anything up.

It'll have to wait a little while, to see if anything needs updating on the model, but then I can incorporate the prop model you need in order to make your alpha mod work.

Hey Mike, question about the Bougainville Solomon Islands version....

How come it doesn't have the big radio & whip antenna :ques:
(I figure there's a history lesson here) :mixedsmi:

The majority of photos I have show no radios - so, no radios. I think they were used primarily for medivac and re-supply, and as general hacks.

I did find one single photo that showed an L-4 in the Solomons with the antenna, so I know they were indeed being used as AGF support aircraft, but as I had no way of knowing what radio they were using, opted for the above version.

You can always apply the paint scheme to the radio-equipped model (with appropriate aircraft.cfg changes, of course), and then you have a radio version....
