Flight1 P-51D is out!

A lot of people grumbled about this but I for one am interested in it. Im downloading it as we speak, I dont think ill get a chance to purchase before I go to work, so I'll prob monitor this thread throughout the day to see what anyone else says and barring any disastrous events I'll prob purchase after work.
 
More hedging! I'm very keen to see some real in-game screenies up here rather than what might still be earlier versions from the F1 website. The VC looks very nice - the P51 cockpit has been 'home' for a couple of years now so it looks very familiar.

The D is the most popular variant and pretty much guaranteed to sell, which I guess is the whole point when you run a business. Several months/years ago when development started there were no P51Ds for FSX at all, and until today there was still only the old patched A2A version. Yes, devs should keep an eye on what others are doing and avoid pointless duplication, but if they think they can top a competitor's product and win sales then why not? As it is, I think each of three new releases will have a unique selling point. With A2A it will be Accusim, with Warbirdsim it looks to be accuracy plus insane (and beautiful) texture detail, and with this one there's the modern civvy versions. I'd say we still have a long way to go before we catch up with the fleets and fleets of identikit tubeliners. :)
 
The VC looks very nice but I'm not quite so keen on the exterior model. Looks a nice package over all though.

I agree. The 'old' A2A version with a good texture set still looks better to me. For one thing the fin and rudder look too wide, and also the spinner looks out of line with the curve on the upper cowling. But if these are old WIP screenies maybe it's worth a look for the additional functionality and animations. Like others I'll wait and see some good screenshots first.

I tried an overlay of a photo on a screen shot. The vertical stabilizer width looks right, but it is quite a bit shorter than the photo. It looks like it needs to be at least 6" taller.

In fairness you have gotta be a bit careful with that method as camera lenses and the way a screenshot is taken can distort the images in different ways changing proportions.

Im with you Dave -im impatient but I think i will wait for A2A to rework theirs.

I thought someone might have bit the bullet and got this.
I downloaded, but not purchased yet.
I was at work when I downloaded. I can't view the forum from work.
I will wait and see what the feedback is.
 
Got it........... and.................. not sure I can be bothered to do any screenshots. Very disappointed in VC textures - no wonder there are few close up shots on the Flight 1 website.

Off to see if they will refund. Such a shame.
