One key difference was the new site was up and running while we were migrating files. At this point there is something very wrong and fishy about the Flightsim migration.

Special Server Maintenance
Just when you think you have everything running some what better...
You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.
- November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
- November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
- November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
- November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.
If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.
To keep you updated Tom Clayton has offered to post updates on AVSIM forums.

I miss Flightsim forums and its download library 
It was fun to post screenshot flights reports on their forum. Thank God that SOH and Avsim still exist. Anybody remember FSW (Flight Sim World) forums. Is it gone too? I do not remember the name but it is something like FSW (Flight Sim World) and they had forums for which they were famous for subforum section called Virtual Airline Announcements containing posts by virtual airlines announcing their debut.

I agree, with your assessment there, seems highly irregular to close a site down, claiming "it's temporary", when "temporary" is now in its 10th month!
I was browsing Wikipedia earlier today, and noticed someone had mentioned the change(s), and noted that everyone is being kept in the dark, about progress, or even expected relaunch date!
As you rightly say "something very wrong and fishy"!

Assuming fact might be absoultely right: thei’re simply ran out of financial fluidity… and so are gone bankrupt… which is why, they might not be able to finance a running server and / or Domain anymore… which subsequently is why flightsim.com won’t come up ever again… its simply gone forever… we’ve got to deal with that anyways…
