• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Flightsim.com up for sale

Michael Vader, who is active here in the FS2004 section, has many older files at Flightsim.com. I obtained his permission to add his CFS2 and FS2004 files which were not previously available in our library.

Perhaps it might be worthwhile to put out a post in each of the SOH forums advising the situation with Flightsim and requesting members with files found only at that site to add them to the SOH library.
 
Feel free to search my name and grab the few that I have there. I'm not 100% sure that I can still log in there. I'll try later today, and if I can, I'll get copies of my files too.
 
For our FlightSim files we wish to add to the SOH library, would we add them individually using "Add resources?"

Hi PP,

Just navigate to the library section to which you want your file to be uploaded and take it from there.

Please add a picture in both the file description section and the "add a new icon" section at the bottom of the page.

I look forward to approving them!

For decades, FlightSim.com has existed as a home for simmers. It’s been a place to discover add-ons, share knowledge, and connect with fellow enthusiasts. This goal will not change! That legacy matters, and we want to share an update about its future.

FlightSim.com has changed hands. The domain and brand will move forward under a new ownership team. The new caretakers are long-time members of the flight sim community and active simmers, but they wish to remain anonymous.

What this means for now: the site will continue to function “as-is” through December 2025. The forums and conversations will remain a core part of the FlightSim.com experience, while plans for the future take shape. The only immediate change will be the upgrade of the site’s core platform to the latest version, ensuring FlightSim.com stays current and secure. This has been completed, and we hope it didn't cause much trouble as we tried to keep it as close to familiar as possible.

The FlightSim.com Store has now closed and is not expected to return. Additionally, file hosting will remain available only through December 2025. After that, the site will transition to an archival model. We’re working closely with a long-time community member who has stepped up to cover the initial costs of keeping the file library online. Thanks to their support, downloads will remain accessible into the future, for as long as funding allows.

We want to thank every simmer, developer, and contributor who has made FlightSim.com a cornerstone of flight simulation. The next chapter may look different, but the history and contributions of this community will always remain at its heart. We look forward to bringing a fresh approach to the longest-running flight sim community on the internet!

 
I just tried it.......eh! It does allow for dark mode which is easier on the eyes! Wonder how long it will last? If they don't request donations, then it's pretty much
all out of pocket costs!

File hosting refers to the user uploads/library!

Interesting times indeed.
 
So far things are looking okay. The site had a hiccup this morning by as @wobbie said it's back to normal. The new Admins are engaged, answering questions as they can, and aside from the occasional snide remark from a Member they appear to have things in hand.

If they continue the File Library so much the better, but if circumstances change I understand. For the time being let's see how it goes. :)

I saw that and chuckled seeing as the same guy had a hissy fit on the HeliFest thread and threw his sucker from the stroller (tossed his dummy from the pram for the Brits here ;) ) and withdrew when his routing was called into question seeing as he'd planned his entire route for four legs when only the clues for the first leg had been released! :dizzy:

When his error was politely pointed out to him he went 'Poof' like a fart into a bowl of talc! :dizzy:

Nothing we haven't seen before from the 'Member' you refer to in your Post; he marches to the beat of his own tom tom. Invariably when he's called out by the Organizer of the Event, he has a conniption fit and either withdraws from the Event or leaves the Club altogether. No amount of gentle or stern admonishment will ever change his patterns of behaviour. :rolleyes: :dizzy::banghead:
 
The new system isn't sunshine and rainbows for us WW2 nerds. Just tray P-51D. It sees that "-" as search operator and tries to just search for P than errors because P is too short too and too common.
