FlightSim Developers P38 Now Released

No dash on Restored Model

Minor revision:

These links might return a null value. Please use the standard links as posted on our download page:

http://www.fsd-international.com/Hangar/P38/download.htm

Thanks

I deleted my previous P38J folders in the FSX/Simobjects/airplane folder. I then downloaded the complete J, K & L install package along with the 4 paint package. Installed J, K & L from scratch along with the 4 paints package and the Restored model has no dash textures and seems to be missing other cockpit textures. Deleted everything and downloaded and installed all again from scratch. Still no Restored model dash and cockpit textures.

Please advise!

Rod

I believe that you only need to download the main installer for all models , the other package is the lite version that only contains the base models with one paint and may cause a problem if you load it as well.

Up until a few minutes ago, I was seeing only the screen shots here of Putt Putt Maru. Now, I've installed and flown it. It is magnificent. :ernae:

I must admit I'm back in school again. I installed Windows 7 the day before yesterday and all the tricks we had to learn about UAC in Vista need learning all over again. It took a few tries to get it installed and visible.

Many thanks.

Glenn

Has the repaint kit/reduced textures installer and anything else been updated to work with the latest version including the K?

Thanks Chuck, I will give that a try when I get back to my PC on Thursday or Friday, if it does not work I will let you know.

Hi, Tim, sorry for being a bit harsh...
1. when installing a new version of the P-38, after clicking "finish", the loadmanager clippboard pops up and I`m unable to get it away, other than reboot. Maybe it has something to do with the first install, cause since then the shortcut in the startmenue is uninstallable.
2.uninstalling can only be done by hand (i oversee something?), not in "all programs", not in system/software and not by clicking on the uninstaller in the FSXrootfolder. Errormessage: can´t find
the path..
3.Turboporter loadmanger says, it can`t load new textures and want´s to be reinstalled.
So, I wasn´t that keen on the K-model, but on a sollution for the software problems: how to proper uninstall, and the loadmanager to work, or to get rid of the defect version from first install.
I have to go to bed, night is over at 4.20CET.

Cheers, Thilo

Thilo,

Closing the P38 Load Manager I believe was covered in another post above.

As far as uninstalling the P38, you should have an entry called FlightSim Developers P38 for FS X. If not, you can run the uninstaller manually by going to your root Flight Simulator X folder and running the program RemoveP38.exe.

If you are experiencing a problem with the Porter load manager it is not related to any other software you have installed, including the P38. In this case I recommend you uninstall the Porter and then go to our Downloads page and download the latest installer and reinstall.

If that does not clear up the problem we will need to work with you directly to resolve whatever issue you are seeing. In this case just sen a support inquire from our Support page, or send a message to supportdesk@fsd-international.com. We will be glad to assist you.

Hi, Tim. My loadmanager is just a listing of the default textures, no "save"button, no "ok pilot" button, nothing. I closed it this time with the taskmanager, resulting in the renameing of Daves and Jans repaints with default titels, FSX: "you have three objects called "Happy Jacks go buggy..", bla, bla. Uninstaller did not work in any of the mentioned locations, so deleted everthing by hand and did a reinstall, no errormessage, no errortext file in FSX rootfolder but still that "plain" loadmanager.
I think, I just ignore that and go flying.

Cheers, Thilo

As Rick's post (417) above points out, if you check the box that says "Pilot Approves" on the Load Manager it will close.

Your box is slightly below the screen. Increase your resolution a bit... that will do it. You only have to do it once (for each repaint you add as well)

I took the load manager out; moved it outside FSX. I then edited the aircraft.cfg to read correctly. everything now (seems) to work OK.:icon29:

Jim,

I am not sure what problem you were experiencing. The Load Manager simply formats any paint schemes added to the aircraft directory automatically when it is booted. The only thing you need to do is close it.

Could you please elaborate?

Hi Tim, hi Krazycolin!
Yep, it worked, with higher resolution I finally found the check box at the end of the list!!
But (sorry!), the loadmanager itself does not work as it should: Dave and Jan use for their repaints existing (default) textures and change it. Jan uses the P-38L Factory Fresh paint, the loadmanager seems to recognize that somehow and puts Factory Fresh instead of Jans paint (Viking2 for example) in the aircraft config.
So I think , adding repaints by hand is the way to go, no problem here, realy!!

Cheers, Thilo

Hey folks
great plane, really enjoying the restored model as a long range IFR cross country fun bird. I have just a couple questions on some minor 'issues'.

How do I adjust the OBS heading on the NAV2 CDI?

Radio stack is unlit at night, any way to have the electronic displays lit?

Any chance to get external tanks for the restored model?

External sound sometimes stuck at full engine power sound when viewed from outside.

Cheers
TJ

All good questions , the restored version does carry the same amount of fuel as do the others but replaces the external tanks with an internal one to compensate , regarding avionics and night lighting i will need to have Tim answer that one and will refer the question to him

Reply to Tims message; I was getting the same stuff as everyone else. What I did was rename the aircraft from "default" to whatever I wanted such as the nose art name. Then I took out the load manager & the names stayed as I had edited them. Before I took out the load manager the names would revert ot "default" or "camo" when I called up the P38 on FSX.

If you make the name change in the Paint.cfg file in the paint scheme's folder the name change will be permanent.
