Fly Bys

How the heck do you do fly bys? Is it an add on program used to do them, some fancy foot work with the Tower view?

OBIO

There's a free downloadable utility from Flight1 on their website..go here http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library

It''s called F1 View utility, it will give you the ability to move around any aircraft's VC or cabin, and I think it does have a flyby mode as well as other options. Excellent little utility.

The default FS9 Tower view means what it says, thats all. You can only change its position in AFCAD, thats about all you can do with it.

I had this F1 View utilty for quite some time until I found Active Camera which also has flyby mode and has a lot more options than F1 View. It is this one that I use for the flyby mode.
Unfortunately it's now no longer available. It was payware as well.

I use FS Recorder http://www.fs-recorder.net/

I record a flight then load up in another plane.

I go into the Map view in FS and move the tower to near where I flew.

The towers height gets adjusted to just below or above depending on how i want the video or screen shot.

I start the flight and watch from the tower view.

You can also fly in a general direction and move the tower view in the Map and fly past it while in the tower view.

This method can provide some better shots but requires flying the plane from the tower view which can be tricky.

Or open the Map in FS9 and set the tower anywhere, any height you like. Works great for fly-bys....you have to switch to tower view of course.

EDIT: Oops! I see Dave beat me to it.

Hi,

That's my way to go from ages :)
With Fsrecorder .. you can also make any towers views you want (the process for make a view use the slew FS2004 option)
All explainations are in the help file or at the Fsrecorder forums.
It's also some interesting tools related to Fsrecorder availables there.
Best is you can save those views for any further use...
So you can have a library of towers views for any airport or any places you like.
So it's easy to make some flyby's (like the one I made with the DC3) .. by recording a flight (with Fsrecorder)and play it but viewed from your favorites point of view
I can't live without Fsrecorder :)
BTW a new version is on the work bench !

Here you go OBIO, best way I know if you do not have Active Camera is the Fly-By Module. Drop the .dll module and .ini configuration file in the FS9 > Modules folder. After you have chosen a flight and loaded it, click Alt and go to Add-ons and scroll to the Fly-BY Module and activate it, then scroll it again and set up the configuration. The Fly-By module will work any time you go to the Tower View.
