Flyon's Western Roundup

No revenge to be served up here, only plenty of broken bones for pilot and passenger. Crashed at L06.

Flight Time (with included 10 minute penalty time added): 39:20
Fuel used: 117.7

Bad crosswinds on takeoff, and bad crosswinds at Furnace Creek.

The approach into runway 15 is a tough one, with trees and buildings almost right up to the edge of the runway. A lumberjack program for FS9 would definitely be a godsend here...
Even with the trees and buildings, I did land OK on the runway, but I couldn't keep it on the runway -and that's when the trouble started. Once I hit the grass, it was only a matter of time before it nose-dived. Pulling back on the stick, pumping the brakes and full flaps did nothing -sometimes it works on grass, this time it didn't.
I probably should have aborted that landing attempt and came in on 33 instead, being there's much more room to work with on that side of the runway.
Live and learn stuff there...any landing (i.e.: crash) that you (meaning me) can walk away from is a good one -time to move on...

My last leg for the Western Roundup 2013. Departing KTVL Lake Tahoe, en route to KSQL San Carlos.

Fin. Landed safely at San Carlos KSQL.

Direct distance: 135.1 nm
Flight time: 00:41:08
Fuel used: 167.6

Leaving Lake Tahoe:

Lining up for final at San Carlos, and coming in too hot/high once again (or as Rob put it: "a.k.a. the Buzzbee Racer's Approach"...lol).

Off to parking: One pilot and one 'frazzled' and now 'afraid of flying' Wall Street banker have finally reached our destination. What a long strange trip it's been:

Time now for some much-deserved "kudos", "props", "shout outs":

Thanks to all here who chipped in with advice/encouragement for me along the way.

A big thank you to Mrs. Murphy and the Western Roundup 2013 committee for letting me participate in this event.
It was a real blast for me, and the route/legs were nothing short of spectacular. Very nice and scenic areas areas to fly around in, for sure.

And a special thank you to the fine people at Premier Aircraft Design, for making this Cessna 414A Chancellor available to the flight sim community -a great plane indeed.
If it wasn't for this WR2013 event, I would have never known about this plane. It's a definite keeper, and a fine permanent addition to my hangar.

Hi flyon,

Could you post your duenna files for the KGCN - KLAS leg? I can't find that leg's text file on the duenna site, and you didn't post the image from the duenna results. Thanks!

Sorry about that. It was a mess-up on my part, rookie mistake #10,000...I should have ended that original flight, restarted FS9, and then restart the leg.

My KGCN-KLAS leg must have appeared confusing, being I thought my REX didn't kick in (but it did), so I restarted this leg without closing out FS9.

That's probably why it was hard to find, and the fact that my Duenna duplicates (or sometimes triplicates) my flights in the Duenna flight pages.

The original KGCN KLAS leg post here somewhat explains it better (hopefully).
The Duenna link in that post is a good link to the right flight, plus the requested Duenna screenshot and the flight txt for good measure:

My apologies for the snafu Paul.
