Fokker GI WIP

Img

If anyone has any photo reference of the Fokker GIs wheels that would be great! If the photos are in black and white and of good quality I will try to work out the colour of the wheels whether it is metal or brown.

Texturing

Got around to texturing making rivets and panel lines on the template huub vink gave me, I changed allot on his template but kept some parts :) seriously great help, most of it in this stage is done :)

Lva colours

I am now deciding on colour mixes, and have made (as reference and accuracy) and coloured picture of a fokker GI to see which colors line up more. I have come to the final decision of 2 mixes.
1st image=Coloured image to my mix.
2nd image= Coloured image to Fritz gardessen Federal standar color generator

I want you to say which to use, the winner out of the contest will probably be used as the camo patern if nothing comes up. (like if I see colour reference point, these points can identify if a color is used correctly as on that point two very different colours collide for which you can sort of make out a gradient scale I will do my own decision.) Can't spot them atm and thus you vote!

Btw do you guys also have problem uploading images?

LVA colours are often causing violent discussions. There is one reference which provides the colour numbers according the Federal standards. However there is also a remark that the "light grey/sand" shade wasn't accepted by the LVB (the B is for "bedrijf").

The paint was delivered by Sikkens, which wasn't the original "designer" of the colours, due to which you can have quite interesting discussions about this topic. Sikkens doesn't have any information about the paint anymore. And there are not much people left who actually saw the aircraft.

At the (old) "Nederlandse Luchtvaart" forum I was able to show 8 different colour schemes which were all called authentic by someone. And they all had their reason to call it authentic.

Cheers,
Huub

You should upload your pictures in JPEG instead of PNG, there will be smaller in weight.
Also, the current pictures are quite dark and small, and this makes it very difficult to judge the actual colors I think.

Here are the two pictues currently posted above:

As Huub said, the colours could cause violent discussions, as nobody knows them. Maybe it's better in this case to use a more artistic yet convincing approach than a purely technical one.
I had to make a choice as well for my D.21 and T.5. Because of the nature of our hobby, I decided to use a public reference (Simmerspaintshop) for the colours instead of a literature one. Also, this is easy to use in computer software.

I was a little upset when I realised SPS was downed together with NLV, but fortunately Arjan left the colour charts online. This is the Dutch one: http://www.logtnest.nl/explanation-...or-chart-rgb-and-hex-values-for-dutch-colors/
Use the upper three if you decide to use them. They are based on good sources.

Beware of the numerous 'purists' (one of which I am) that will throw tomatoes as soon as you show your colour choice. Whatever you choose, it will be incorrect, but I believe that's inherent to this colour scheme. I'm now so far that I think of the more artistic approach.

online 3d model

https://skfb.ly/POFn for the guys intrested I uploaded the model of the Fokker GI to sketchfab for your viewing in 3d :), it still needs some optimization and triangulation but generally it is good. (this model is not to be accurate for the cockpit and such.

Great to see there is still progress. I wish I had the time to do some virtual painting, but real life is keeping me quite busy currently....

Cheers,
Huub

FokkerG1 in Prepar3D V4?

Hello,
Back in my FS9-years I had this G1 also as part of my collection of Dutch Heritage fighters. Now I have Prepar3D V4 but unfortunatelly the FS9 model is not working in there. Apart from the many goodies P3D V4 has, some "old" äircraft using outdated airfiles or bmp,s are not compatible.
Now my question is, will the new G1-model be compatible with Prepar3D V4? I very much hope so.
With kind regards,
Piet de Geus
Netherlands.

It'd be surprising if this is still being worked on, considering one and a half years without any news.

It actually is!

I took a break because I found the updating of the texturing excruciatingly irritating, in the resolution I had been working in, it makes my photo editing software crash every 2 minutes. Recently, however, I did do some work on it and here are some renders (weathering not included)
