For those who had given up all hope... (Fokker G-1A)

I wouldn't change the flightdynamics Huub, I think it feels fine. With a bit of differential braking and some rudder it can be controlled quite well while on the ground. I found the F.K.58 much harder to handle!
Also the G.1 isn't a P-38 with a nosewheel and counter-rotating props!

Not sure if this would work for you guys here or not, but in the A-26 Doug used a clever bit of code to place black masks over the gauge faces to allow dimming of the gauge faces.
Maybe this could be borrowed and tweaked for this application.

I had 99% of the L-49 gauges working with this feature but a couple of them created a CTD conflict when the mask was in use so I scrapped the idea...for now.

Cheers
Stefan

Michel is making quite some progress with a super model from the Fokker G-1A and Benoit is worling hard on a very authentic flight model. I'm staying a but behind, but I have started to redo all textures.

And the release dat is planned short after the models has been finished ;)

Some shot, just to tease you all!

Enjoy Huub.

That plane is quite unusual in design, but it has a clean graceful look about it. You have done an excellent bit of work in capturing that look, Huub. Besides... she looks fast. I'm not too familiar with this aircraft, but I'm sure it'll be a real joy to fly when you get her finished up.

Consider me 'teased' as well...:applause::applause::applause:

Blackbird, the model isn't mine, but done by Michel Migaud. We lost contact during the development of this model and although I have done everything within my possibilities to restore contact, I didn't succeed. Although not finished, I'm convinced it is a waste not to release this model.
Therefore we try to finish it as best as possible without the source files.

The G-1 was an aircraft designed to stay airborne for a long period so it could patrol and wait for the enemy to arrive. It was not called a fighter, but was called a "Jachtkruiser" (pursuit cruiser). The aircraft had eight 7.9mm M36 machine guns concentrated in the nose and one M36 machine gun firing to the rear. The G-1 was never used in this role, but was used as a "normal" fighter during the battle for the Netherlands.
Most Dutch think it was the best aircraft we had at the time of the German invasion, but there were too few and only used for a very short period to make a honest judgement. Performance was slighty better than the Bristol Blenheim, which used the same engines.

From the 23 operational G-1s, already 11 were destroyed during the first German attack. The 12 survivors managed to shoot 13 German aircraft. Most of these were bombers, which were bombing the airfields when the G-1s took off. As several Dutch airfields were destroyed or taken by the Germans several aircraft landed on the beach and were not able to take off again. Four days later only one operational G-1 was left.....

Fokker used quite some unique features in their aircraft and they often did chose different solutions than the British, French and Germans. Most of these odd things have been modelled in the VC already. I'm currently writing an extensive readme to explain all these features.

Cheers,
Huub

Well, this beautiful aircraft seems a fitting tribute to a nation of brave, couragious men and great aviators.

Gefeliciteerd, geweldig werk! :icon29:

*Bump* :redf: :engel016:

This project appears to be shaping up quite nicely! Very much looking forward to the release. Many thanks to all involved for their efforts...

Sorry to disappoint you guys, but some serious real life issues have come on my path and I won't be able to finish things before tomorrow. Next week most of us have a few days off here in the Netherlands, hopefully I will succeed in finishing the package in a bit more than a week or so.

Sorry again,
Huub

No worries Huub, she'll be ready when she's ready. We all know that real life has to have a higher priority (sometimes)

Cheers
Stefan

No need to apologise Sir. Good things come to those who wait. We continue to look forward to this very special aircraft. :wiggle:

Funny, I just sent Huub a PM with the same question. No news though, we'll have to wait a bit longer.

There's a Fokker D.XXIII that's getting an overhaul and it should keep us busy for a while though!

Thanks. . .yea I've been following the other thread and making the tweaks. Redid all the textures to Hi-Res "dds" for the FSX side and re-textured the VC.

As I said already before, real life needs a lot of time and attention and I'm afraid it only became worse since I posted the message I would make the May deadline.

The main thing which still needs to be done is the manual. As the model is special, I wanted to something special with this manual as well.

That's all I can say for now. But I think you patience will be rewarded.

Cheers,
Huub
