Be careful with 191.07 drivers, I had lots of problems, went out to Evga's forum and found this............http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=100961981
On XP or Vista (or even Win7)??????????
For XP go to Start\Set Program Access and Defaults\Change or Remove Programs.
Then scroll down to nVidia and click on 'nVidia Drivers' then click the 'Change/Remove' button.
Be aware that when the old ones are removed it will want to reboot and when it does it will come back at 800x600 resolution (as it has no video drivers) so it will look odd and all your desktop shortcuts will look huge.
Install the new drivers and reboot and you should be good to go apart from sorting out all your shortcuts as they will all be clumped together if you had them arranged in any way before.
I can't help with Vista or Win7 as my daughter has my Vista laptop at the moment and I can't remember the exact steps for that off the top of my head.
Make sure you double-check that your nHancer settings are as suggested by NickN. A couple of my settings changed and I had to reset them after installing these new drivers. It's always a good idea to re-check nHancer settings after any driver change or changes to the FSX graphics settings panel. Thus far, I can say that I see sharper details, but I have picked up a bad stutter that I didn't have with the 191 driver. I use NHancer and the settings are based on the terrific tutorial written by NickN over at Simforums. I'll continue for a bit more to try to tweak the in sim settings to see if I can lose the stutter. If not I'll consider this driver a "no-go" for my system and revert back to the 191 driver.
Yep, I did that. Installed the drivers then ran NHancer and redid every setting to his suggestions.Make sure you double-check that your nHancer settings are as suggested by NickN. I had to do this to get the FSX profile that Nick came up with to activate again. There is an issue with all drivers with version 19x.x and later. It seems that those drivers don't accept any profiles right after they've been installed.
Not only nHancer is affected but all profiles, even when they were created by nVidia or by nVidia's ControlPanel.
The following procedure seems to solve this problem. It only has to be done once, after that the profiles work just fine until another driver is installed:
- Start nVidia's Control Panel (right click on the desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel").
- Select the menu pane "Manage 3D settings" (it's the second selection from the top in the left panel)
- Make sure that the tab "Global Settings" is selected.
- Change the "Antialiasing-Mode" to "Override any application setting"
- Press "Apply"
- Change the "Antialiasing-Mode" back to "Application-controlled"
- Press "Apply" again.
I hope I'll figure out a way to make this procedure superfluous in one of the next nHancer releases. Until then this workaround has to suffice.
I am using Window7/64/ you can read up on them over at Guru3d. Most of the guys are very impressed with them which is a first...lol.
