The freeware ENB series program directly adresses the videocard to enhance Dx9 3D graphics and works great in FsX as brought to our attention by Roger here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=14917

BUT, it also works in Fs9 (And apparently many more games for that matter).

It is highly tweakable through editting an Ini file, but here are some screenshots with an almost default set up to show the difference:

IMHO the colours look more natural, the sky has better contrast, and the light bloom effect of the sun looks almost like the FsX effects.

I tried this yesterday after seeing the original FSX post by Roger, and the screenies really don't do it justice, great though they are. In motion it's much more obvious (hit shift+F12 to turn it on/off to see the difference) and looks great. I did have a flickering problem, but that was due to ATI graphics and a tweak on the site fixed that, fps hit was nil to negligible for me, been using it since :d

Q: Car reflections sometimes hiding and flickering.
A: For some videocards you need to set ReflectionDepthBias value to something about 100, depending from hardware. This problem was found on all Radeon videocards.

nothing else changed, prior to the later, I would get flickering and my fps dropping by half for a split second every few seconds.

I just gave it a go. My fps took a 50% hit but at least it didn't turn into a slideshow. I know there's some sort of change going on due to being able to turn it on and off with shift-f12 but I can't tell if it's for the better or not. On the ground my plane seemed almost as if it was being seen through one of those 'soft focus' lenses. In the air everything seemed grayer but I'm colorblind (red/green) so that might have something to do with it. I'll probably continue to tinker with it; good thing you can turn it on and off in flight and in instant replays.

my frames may have taken a hit, but I've always had them capped at 25, so all I can really say is so far they haven't dropped below this.

great shots, maybe what this thing is most useful for. It does seem to have a softening effect, dunno if I'm used to it enough for every day use though, time will tell.

Yep, simply extract the ENBseries.ini and the d3d9.dll to the Fs9 root directory.

thanks I am fine and repainting work is also well progressing at the moment I am work at a repaint of the avsim.ru Su-26 for FSX and my personal aerobatic scheme will post a screenie here

have re-installed last weekend my xp since after a failed graphic driver upgrade my system did not except them !
from my loved iris planes only the eap is currently installed

What version of Direct X does dxdiag say you have now? I tried installing it last night, and got the message "Game cannot run because the version of Microsoft DirectX installed on your computer is incompatible."

(Note to self -- do not try installing something like this AND make another driver change at the same time ever again. I thought it was the driver change that caused the message; and lost two hours of sleep trying to make FS2004 right before Windows Restore dumped these files and made it work again.)
