Here's another FS2002 beauty who's survived the test of time. The Robin 400 by (once again) Yannick Lavigne, Fred Banting, Rob Young...and converted for use in FS2004 by Eric Dantes. Wonderfully modelled, textured, and flys great. Check out the texturing on the pilot. Amazing! Can be downloaded from Flightsim.com. Files needed are dr400v1.zip and dr400_04.zip.

Sorry if these are too obvious, a sample from my overstuffed hard drive - but then they're all too good to push into the hangar, amongst the light stuff how about the Golden Age Taylor Cub at

http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=128605

their New Standard D25A at http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=118971

not to mention the earlier Waco ATO/CTO package at

http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=98532

coming across the pond Oliver Fischer's Bucker Jungmann at avsim -check out his Junkers JU52 while you're there:

http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=117785

Gunter Graemer's Me108 and his Cirrus SR20 shouldn't be missed....if you can find a download site with them - sorry I got them from his site but I think he closed it down, but of course I could be wrong!

The new Auster Aiglet at

http://www.classicbritishfiles.com/

and nosey around for anything Auster or Miles for starters at that site

The Piel Emeraude at http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=94795

The Aero Heaven Hurricane is vastly better than a payware version out there, but then so is Robert Sanderson's - both can be found at flightsim.

then up the pace with the Saab Draken which I thought was something like ....bookmark.se - but I can't find it at present

or for airliners naturally the FSDZ Constellation at

http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=80675

and of course the C-46 at

http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SEARCH1&fsec=0&fname=C46GA.ZIP

for more scarcity value Peter Larkham's lovely Cunliffe-Owen Concordia at

http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=117701

The Derek Palmer DH-104 dove has been mentioned recently in the forum:

http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=100500

and any airliner by Manfred Jahn and also Jens Kristensen who has covered everything from early Vickers Vimy biplanes through to the Comet 1, and they all fly well.

Kirk Olsson did a lovely F-16 family, and Mirages and the F-86 for whistling round the valleys in.

Milton's Spartan is brilliant but that is covered above and so is Dave Eckert's Stearman.

An often forgotten gem of awesomeness: the PWDT Zlin 43
pwdt_zlin43.zip on AVSIM.com, pwzlin43.zip on flightsim.com

Very detailed model, stunning textures, great FD, and enough systems depth to make even the hardest-hearted of us read the manual.

The pictures are not mine - but from the creators original files.

Great freeware airports:

EDLM, Marl-Loemuehle
edlm2005.zip on flightsim.com

Animated people, traffic, custom AI (with decent repaints should you wish to fly them), a very nicely executed airport, and a rather unique and one-of-a-kind in FS flyable aircraft model are included in this high-quality package.

CYBD, Bella Coola
bc_bella.zip on Avsim and Flightsim
If you have Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska, download these additional files from the same places: sebclod9.zip, ut_bc_hs.zip.

The airport is not updated, but it does not need to be. Trust me.

9Dragons Kai Tak

Payware Quality rendering of Hong-Kong, including photo-textures for most of the island, custom autogen, animated ships and cars, and two airports modelled (one more dismantled than modelled, but close enough).

Jesenicko v2
jes2.zip on Flightsim, jes2_051121.zip on Avsim

Small, impeccably modelled grass glider fields set in wonderfully done photo-real terrain. Truly a "Must" for the light-GA flyer!

CYEE, Huronia
huronia.zip on Flightsim, huronia_cyee.zip on Avsim

A small, photo-real airport in Ontario. Not fancy, but solid. Absolutely perfect alone, even better with Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska.
Features a nice set of objects, custom ground textures, and seasonally changing features.

Great freeware airports:

Pleurtuit - St. Malo
lfrdv1a.zip and Flightsim, lfrd2004-v1a.zip on Avsim

A truly amazing piece of photo-scenery.
This is the freeware work of the designer of the famous FlightScenery payware addons - and the same quality exists here.
The scenery manages to be both fully detailed and chuck-full of beautiful VFR landmarks AND frame-rate friendly!
You do not want to miss this one.

Louisiana Wetlands
lawetlandsvol1.zip, lawetlandsvol1sr1.zip, louisianawetlandsv2.zip on Avsim

A beautiful set of small bush airstrips in southern Louisiana. These are all very close in proximity and are very well done, with custom AI traffic and plenty of animated birds.
Beware, these do not play nice with Ultimate Terrain, USA! As the readme says:
These FS Airfields are based on real-world private airfields that no longer exist due to coastal erosion and years of neglect and hurricanes...
so you may need to do some fiddling with scenery design techniques to use these with Ultimate Terrain. That's what I did, and have not regretted it!

Great freeware airports:

RealNZ Paraparauma
http://www.windowlight.co.nz/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=14&Itemid=52

There are many very nice sceneries included on the linked page, and many of them may be mentioned later in this thread (some, like Coromandel and Wanaka are of especial mention, IMHO), but I highlight Paraparauma because it is a very nice little photo-real aerodrome not available elsewhere that I happen to value... it is not fancy, but it is as solid as it comes.

KPLN, Pellston Regional
kpln_fs9.zip on Flightsim; kpln_fs2004.zip, kpln_afcad.zip, kpln_fs2004_patch.zip on Avsim

Payware quality - in fact, high-end-payware quality, with photo-textures for whatever a photo-texture can be applied to, custom AI traffic, animated ground traffic, autogen, animations, lights... I am not completely certain, but I believe it also does a good deal of enhancement to the surrounding areas not covered by the photo-textures by way of land-class... As I have said before, many great sceneries match this one, but none can better it.

Refer to this thread for screenshots: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=20370

Great list guys ..I was going to mention some freewarea aircraft I like but its all mentioned above...nice to see some NZ scenery in here...heres some pics of Paraparaumu as mentioned above..

Great thread, Tom any moment now you may have to start a database!
I'm scrolling down my planes list, found 2 goodies by Oliver Fischer
At Flightsim.com:

FS2004 Buecker 131 Jungmann
Name: bueck131.zip Size: 18,579,934 Date: 02-27-2008 Downloads: 1,146
FS2004 Buecker 131 Jungmann. The Buecker Jungmann was the first plane produced by the new Buecker Flugzeugbau GmbH company founded in 1932. The prototype Bu 131A V-1, registration D-3150, was conceived as a training/private plane capable of aerobatics and powered by an 80 hp Hirth HM60R inline engine. It made its inaugural flight on 27th April 1934. By Oliver Fischer.

FS2004 Junkers-52/3M
Name: junkr522.zip Size: 36,686,753 Date: 02-27-2008 Downloads: 2,638
FS2004 Junkers-52/3M. The Ju52 was widely used in the thirties. It made many experimental flights all over the world and routes into the Far East were made possible by this aircraft. The "Junkers-Flugzeugwerke" in Dessau developed it originally as a single engine cargo aircraft in 1930, under chief constructor Ernst Zindel. A few months later construction began on the well known three-engined JU 52/3m, the change was triggered by several interested airlines looking for a reliable design. This version saw commercial service first in 1932. By Oliver Fischer.

Canadiana

A great place for excellent scenery add-ons for the province of Ontario is:

http://www.flightontario.com/index.html

For the rest of Canada there are great freeware and donationware scenery available here:

http://www.fsnb.ca/Canuk/

and a guy named Greg Putz has done some really nice Saskatchewan airports which are available at Flightsim.

Keep it up guys, there are lots of undiscovered gems to be had out there.

Hi,
great thread.
here's a couple more names for searches

Libar Guzman's great C-46 Commando

Manuele Villa, Stefano Meneghini who I think work together (?) sometimes to produce fabulous early and 1930ies airliners from Savoia Marchetti and FIAT. Am waiting for the G-12 which I think is somewhere just over the horizon ! Available from flightsim and others

www.calclassic.com for a wonderful range of propliners-- DC6s, DC7s, Martins and Convairs..all now with worked over VCs and all great aircraft to fly. A project from Manfred Jahn and team has been the Beautiful Constellation in a range of models and textures. A truly wonderful work of computer art!
Still findable is the original Connie(FSDZigns) without VC from John White which is a fabulous model .

I nearly missed out Hauke Keitel and his 2 great airliners; the FW200 and Ju90 !

Andy.
