FS2004 on a Laptop; Sliders locked at zero??

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
Hey all,

I have FS2004 installed on a laptop and for some reason, the detail sliders (Options/Settings/Display) are not adjustable and all sliders are locked at zero, lowest setting. They appear grayed out.

This has dual mini hard drives. I installed FS9 on the secondary drive, E: Could that be what is doing this? Are laptops different then desktop PC's?

The Laptop has RAID capability but is not in RAID setup as I wanted the secondary drive for storage of graphics files and games and work files primarily on drive C:

Any idea's? I have never heard of this happening before.... Also, it runs FS9 quite well. Airborn, I was hovering at between 60 and 70 FPS...

Many thanks for any input on this.

Bill

Sounds like it could be a graphics card problem ? maybe diver related, sorry not much help that a new one on me.

I'm thinking graphics card problem myself.

Different sim, but when I first installed CFS 3 on anything when it first came out I installed it on my old CFS 1 machine. All the sliders were stuck on lowest setting there too as the graphics card was the bare minimum according to the specs on the box.

You might check the graphics settings on the laptop. might be set for performance and not quality? just guessing. i really have no idea. fs9 runs great on my ACER laptop

Bill,

If you copied FS9 over instead of installing it, it may be confused about the graphics card.

Try moving the FS9.cfg and allow it to regenerate one maybe picking up the graphics card again.

Hey guys,

Many thanks for the input and idea's. I tried them all. Downloaded Dx 9.0c, downloaded the newest GeForce Go7900 GS drivers, deleted the FS9 config, changed GC settings to 50% (Balanced between Performance and Quality), and nothing has changed.

I had done a fresh disc install on FS9.

I also changed settings on the GC's, from 1 to SLI (both), none worked.

I have never seen this before. Really odd. The Laptop can run this at 60+ FPS, but no graphics adjustments are possible... Crazy.

What resolution are you running? And what's the native resolution of the screen? Not that I expect it'll change anything, but I run my FS resolution at the native resolution of my monitor.

Hey Willy,

I tried them all. I'll try native again. I had it set from native (at first, before updates), and lowered to all the lower settings. Good idea though.

What I am thinking is that the nVidia controls are locking the settings which means for FS that I cant change ground terrain, Mips (cough) and special effects. I am going to see if nVidia has a forum and what they recommend as I now think that this is a GC card issue and that the GC system is what has it locked up...

Maybe there is a control panel for nVidia's SLI system that will let the game run/manage all GC settings.
