Ooooo, yes please.

Have read the book numerous times, but not that recently. If you liked that I would also recommend...

Semi-fictional (based on actual events, but with some fictionalised characters to tie the story together into a novel)

Hi Jamie

The "Mickey Mouse II" repaint is actually quite old. It is based on a very thorough analysis by Jonathan Strickland, who did build a 1/48 model of the aircraft. As his reasoning made sense I did a repaint for FSX based on the default textures of Ding Hao (for which John "Bomber_ 12th" Terrell Kindly gave his permission). As I fly more in FS9 than in FSX I decided to convert the texture into FS9 .bmp format.
(For John Strickland's analysis: http://hsfeatures.com/features04/goodbyemickeymousejs_1.htm )

As in my opinion Captain James A. Farebrothers is the actual main character of the book I decided to do the aircraft "Kibitzer" which he flew as well. The repaint is again fictional and based on the hints given in the book.

I will upload them soonish.

I have had a quick look at the reviews of Black Camp 21, which are quite good. Soon I will have my summer leave and it might be a good read in the garden to avoid the crowds. Although I still have a pile of books which I "should" read as well...... (my holidays are currently the only periods in which I find the time to allow myself to read a book.)

Cheers,
Huub

I remember you doing the FSX versions way back when. But I still gravitate towards FS9 more, so great news.

I don't even have my copy of Black camp 21 anymore, lent it out to a friend and haven't seen it since!! Along with the DVD's of Das Boot and Stalingrad. Must chase him up on those.

Jamie.

KA-27 at moscow

So I have FS2020 as well as my beloved FS9 and I saw an add for moscow scenery and I thought, well I hadn't been there in a while, lets see what we can see in FS9:

I more or less started with the wrong picture, as we have the B-17 D by Shessi, here with textures by UncleTgt:

Although there is the free fdg2 donationware B-17 F as well, here a picture from the WOP one, as can be found in the "Heavy bombers & Jets package". This time with a repaint by Alexandre Cadel.

Form the same package the B-17 G, with a repaint by Chuck Lawsen.

And as there is still a slot open for a picture "Thunderbird" from the now free fdg2 donationware B-17 package.

Does anyone still fly this model?

It is the Curtiss P40 B/C by Bruce Thorson. Although the model is quite old, I consider it still the best P40 B/C model for FS2004.

The repaint is work in progress. I did this repaint years ago for the WOP FSX model, but as I'm mainly flying in FS2004 I decided to do it for FS9 as well. It is still early work in progress. But as said, I wonder how many of you still fly this model. The repaint depicts "C" form 112 squadron when they just had arrived in in Egypt. There are several pictures from this aircraft which was still in the original Dupont factory colours. So instead of the "normal" RAF dark earth/dark green/sky-S scheme it was painted in the Dupont colours 71-035/71-013/71-021, which didn't fully match the RAF colours. Although the colours are different, I have applied a standard RAF scheme as I from what I understood the aircraft were delivered that way.

The shark mouth differs from the definitive version used by 112 squadron. This sharkmouth was most likely an early design for the later version and applied on the "C" (Ak367) and "D" (Ak457) aircraft.

Later the Dark green (Dupont 71-013) was repainted with the RAF colour mid-stone and the Dupont version of Sky-S (Dupont 71-021) was repainted azure blue.

Cheers,
Huub

Huub, great shots - is that the Fury from the Hawker Heroes package? Beautiful aircraft and model but strange and distracting how the struts do not connect to the wings - they stop just short of the wing surfaces. Always puzzled me how that got through testing.

The top image is Manuele Villa's Macchi Mc.202 Folgore. A beautiful aircraft captured in a splendid model.

The lower one is indeed the Hawker Heroes Fury. Years ago I came across the CD at a fair, where it was offered for a reduced price. It comes with four different models, but the only models, which are worth keeping are the Tempest and the Fury. For the Tempest there are very nice replacement textures available made by RobH. Despite its minor errors the Fury is a very nice model, with stunning textures. For the FS9 version I have reduced the alpha channels a bit, to make it less shiny/glossy

Cheers,
Huub

When you don't look to close, you won't see the minor faults.... :biggrin-new:
