The USN's on-board delivery platform since 1965 is set to retire this week.
I've dug out the Alpha V-22 paintkit with the intention of painting up the successor, the CMV-22B. Looking at VRM-40 to start with.

Its actually a nice set of Osprey's. Most are USMC, one is USAF (SAR) and two are (WESTPAC) CV's.
Let me know if you just want to Fly Navy or if you want the full set.

Gotta say though, I am more a fan of the Wilco Tilt Rotor Aircraft than of the Alphasim V-22 Osprey.

Gotta say though, I am more a fan of the Wilco Tilt Rotor Aircraft than of the Alphasim V-22 Osprey.
The repaints here are, in the main, for the FSX Maryadi Osprey. It was the repaint of the CMV-22B for that bird that got me looking at trying to have a stab for FS9.
And I'm also a fan of the Wilco Tilt Rotor, totally with you there.

A few days later than expected, but here we are, ready to re-commence our Colorado river adventure from Hite (UT03). Yes I know, not a lot to see, one runway E W. Not much else except the pretty view of the Dirty Devil.
Piper relented and lent us this PA28R 200 (by CLS) an almost new (and well maintained) Arrow II. This is no Dead Horse. Money is where the luxury is, Cub owners are not Pipersā desired demographic; they wish to push them gently up market to where the good margins live.
So here she is:
Take off on the 2200ā long runway is no problem even at 3800ā altitude although the gusty wind takes me by surprise:
From the easterly rwy at Hite (UT03) we sweep round onto a south westerly course down Glen Canyon and over the troubled waters of lake Powell:
Levelled off and cruising downstream over the diminished lake. Over the last decade or two the water level has decreased to 30% of what Glen Canyon Dam was designed for, if this continues, soon the Dam will not be able to produce hydro-electric power or pass the volumes of water expected downstream.
But from this altitude all looks serene (although the FS9 default scenery is a bit drab):
The lake stretches some 100 miles down to the dam. We have travelled around 40 miles and two airports present themselves on opposite sides of the lake: Bullfrog (U07) and Black Memorial (U96), both intriguing names and I fancy a change of aircraft, maybe something fasterā¦
We decide to land at Black Memorial, it has a longer runway and fuel plus our new aircraft is waiting for us there.
What can one say about the Arrow II? Well itās cruising along at an IAS of 120 Kts at 6000ā giving a GS of 136 Kts at 2100 RPM. Competent, comfortable, dependable? YES, exciting? Maybe less so. But then as Confucius said: āBlessed is the man that lives in boring timesā.
About to touch down at Black Memorial rwy 1.
Unloading and about to say goodbye to the Arrow:
The new aircraft for the next leg of the adventure has arrived, with a good dollop of comfort and speed: ā¦
