FS9 / CFS2 DC-3.... what's with the decal ?

Hey there sorry to come in a bit late on this one I just figured what the original question relates to. DECAL_NNUMBER.BMP:kilroy:
doh,
its a special name thats hardcoded into the model, there is no texture. What it does is load a number stored in the aircraft.cfg.
Check it out it's cool. open the cfg see below

[fltsim.0]
title=Douglas DC-3
sim=Douglas_DC3
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=caf
kb_checklists=Douglas_DC3_check
kb_reference=Douglas_DC3_ref
atc_id=CFS-2 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< see this, try changing it
ui_manufacturer=Douglas
ui_type=DC-3
ui_variation=
description=The Douglas DC-3 revolutionized air transportation ect.

You can put what ever you like, I just put CFS-2 one the convertion so I could tell it apart from the FS9 original
Sorry I failed to mention this in any readme's or what not I just plain forgot all about it

Thanks for that simonu !!

Now we have a choice...

From what you have explained we can write what we like - an aircraft serial number for example .... non painting modders can change that as they like :)

or use my mod and rely on the main texture for that kind of thing...

Cheers,

Pete

Finally a good looking DC-3 for CFS2. THANKS!

I've also had a lot of fun using this a/c in FS2002 (I have CFS2, FS2002, and FS2004). I had to find another airfile for it to work in 2k2. I even tinkered around with the lights so they will be in the right places:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
//3=navigation - is not used in new model file
//2=strobes - wingtip strobe lights
//1=beacon - rotating beacons and all navigation lights
//=light type, longitudinal, lateral , height, effects file name
light.0 = 1, -7.60, -46.30, 0.65, fx_navredh ,
light.1 = 1, -7.60, 46.30, 0.65, fx_navgreh ,
light.2 = 2, -8.20, -46.30, 0.65, fx_strobeh ,
light.3 = 2, -8.20, 46.30, 0.65, fx_strobeh ,
light.4 = 1, -36.80, 0.00, 6.25, fx_beaconh ,
light.5 = 1, -25.90, 0.00, -0.50, fx_beaconh ,
light.6 = 1, -44.84, 0.00, 2.6, fx_navwhi ,
//light.7 = 5, 1.60, -18.57, -1.90, fx_landing ,
//light.8 = 5, 1.60, 18.57, -1.90, fx_landing ,
light.9 = 5, 1.60, -18.57, -1.90, fx_landing ,
light.10= 5, 1.60, 18.57, -1.90, fx_landing ,

This works, except for the landing lights. They seem to be partially hidden behind something.

However, this is just about the most fun a/c to fly (it is the easiest to land).

GREAT JOB!

Marc
