FSAddon Bristol Freighter for Christmas !

The RAF owned at least one Bristol Freighter that operated in conjunction with the Royal Radar Establishment at Malvern, from RAF Defford. It was used for testing AI radars in the early 1950's and taken out of service around 1955. It sat by the perimeter fence at Defford for a while sans engines and I remember as a boy, climbing the fence and sitting in the cockpit. I also remember the car ferry service operating out of Herne Airport (now Bournemouth).

Fond childhood memories...:very_drunk:!

Happy Christmas Everybody!

It would be great to see a screenshot of the vc if anyone can post one please? I'd love to have this aircraft but I'm not purchasing it without knowing what the vc is like!

Will post some later, wrestling with two computers and socializing with neighbours :biggrin-new::biggrin-new:

How is Simon these days? Send him my compliments on the Bristol Freighter

As an aside about the real aircraft. Only British engineers could come up with something that looks like that :playful:

Can i get some advice on the autopilot?

There’s pressure in the system, but the master AP switch and the big white lever are both not working.

I’m following the advice on the cockpit placards since the manual doesn’t really mention it at all. :)

is there likely to be a paint kit?

Great addition to the hangar :applause: Happy to report the A/P's working fine on my install but was wondering if there was a recommended power settings sheet available ? I may have overlooked it but haven't noticed one to date...

TIA

With great memories of smoky Aer Turas Bristol Freighters chugging their way around the Dublin ramp and lumbering off the runway in flat shallow climbs, I just had to buy this one on the day of release as a Christmas gift to myself! It's a very welcome addition to my FSX fleet being very well modelled both inside and out with great detail and nice textures. I always feel that good sounds contribute a lot to the sense of immersion of an aircraft and the sound package that comes with this aircraft is very accurate particularly, as I recall, the external sounds (I have never been in the cockpit of a 170 with engines running so I can't really comment on the internal sounds although they certainly also seem very realistic). Having now completed a few hours flying in this, the flight dynamics and handling qualities seem to be as one would expect and I think I have got the hang of the basic Sperry autopilot, although initially I struggled a little to find the correct pitch reference for level flight.

Many thanks to Francois and the team for producing this great aircraft.

Bill
