I've found most people prefer a straight forward zip file, and if an installer is provided they simply point it to a temporary folder then copy the files across to FSX manually anyway, so it's pretty much a waste of my time creating one. :icon_lol:

re. the effects, the only effects I included with the package are modded ones.

Again, It gives me "Peace of mind" to know that when I create my own uninstaller (for addons that don't have one) that all files related to the addon are removed and not clogging the HD.
BTW when I copied the four or so effect files over to EFFECTS I got the notice to over ride on all but one file.

I agree. I'm often wary of installers that leave remnants not cleaned up by their corresponding uninstaller (or lack thereof). Rather, I prefer addons that have the files laid out in the FSX directory structure to be copied over by the user.

The latter is also convenient for me, since I wrote a little tool for myself that automatically installs those - which isn't that impressive in itself, since I can just copy/paste in Explorer just as easily - but the cool part is that it makes a log of everything it copied, so I can just as easily uninstall things too.

Zsolt, love the green paint with the smile... It looks as though you meant to include both the green and camo version in your down load

how ever, the camo paint is in both file...A11-8 and A11-8 camou

very much looking forward to the green A11-8... with smile

Thank you

Then you've probably got another of my aircraft installed.

OK bud here are the FOUR file you packed:

fx_navgre_DG.fx
fx_navred_DG.fx
fx_navwhi_DG.fx
fx_tchdrt_DG.fx

Now then,... when I selected ALL FOUR of the file you see above and went to PASTE them to my EFFECTS folder, the 1st THREE asked me if I wanted to overwrite them.
The last one pasted without question. Are you telling me that the 1st three are exclusively your effect files and are not stock FSX effect files? Lookit,...I don't desire DRAMA here
as it is not tolerated here by the MOD cops (Moderators). And I really don't want to go off into the weeds with you. It's a nice airplane, I wanted (and have every right) to make an
installer as you didn't and wanted to pack only the files that were specifically for this airplane and no others. That is about as lucid as I can be with you.
When I decide to uninstall an airplanne, scenery, what have you, I want to remove any and ALL files that are solely related to what I uninstall and not have what ever that is
active not function because I removed a file that was still needed. I use ADDIT Pro and when I use it to import all my flight sim addons it will created a data base of any and all
of the files. When I decide to REMOVE a particular addon it will first check to see if any and I mean ANY file(s) are shared by other addons and advise me of same. Same logic
with me when I make a installer/uninstaller for my own use. I don't to go let's see...what files can I or can't I remove; that takes time, especially if there are legions of effect and
gauge files. I hope I have painted you a picture of from my perspective.

Thank you for understanding.

Good day.

As all the effects have DG in their names I think you can safely assume that they are Dave Garwood's files.
There's absolutely no need to lose our cool here. Dave gives us his great work for free and he can present them anyway he wants!

Somehow I KNEW I would be reading a response from you. I wasn't trying to give the appearance of losing my cool if I did sorry bout that.
In this day and age of global communication where we communicate via computer one cannot hear the spoken words or the inflection of sentences that are written.
I now know (thanks to you) that the four files are in fact related to the author of the airplane in question. I guess I could of just ignored it all and went on my merry way
and just mumbled to myself "Whatever". It is really no big deal and I do not wish to make it so. I was just reiterateing (an you know this as well) the issues of duplicate files
and the need not to collect them on ones Hard drive.

Thank you and have a Blessed day.

You most likely installed his CBFS Mossie a while back and that is where the 3 files originated. That is where they came from on my system.

Dave

So it was as I said, you have another of my aircraft installed.

I really couldn't care less whether you create your own installer or not. How you deal with the files at your end is up to you.

One thing to note is that some of the effects are called up by the model itself and not by the aircraft.cfg. I don't know if your install / uninstall method takes that into account, especially when looking to see if an effect is used elsewhere.

Zsolt, these new military repaints for the Auster look fantastic (great to see this superb model receive more attention as well)! I look forward to doing some sorties with these new paint schemes soon.

Dave,

I sent you a PM (a nice one) :icon_lol:

He should be so lucky!
Rest assured, Dave, most here have only praise for your creativity and generosity.
Thanks again for your wonderful Austers, and to Zsolt for these great new skins. :applause:

JUST FOR THE RECORD

To all who read this post:

This is just a little notice that Dave and I have made amends (read: said our I'm sorrys) and have moved on.
So please please please refrain from making comments or judgemental remarks on who is the good guy and who is the bad guy.
It was all a case of misunderstanding mainly on my part. I like Dave's addons and have told him as much. I hope the we will
become better acquainted in the future. I read some of the posts here and quite frankly, I wish it would stop as there is no
reason to keep kicking this can down the road, and sometimes it seem like it has turned into a 55 gallon drum. Know what I'm
talkin' bout? So lets all chill and enjoy the life that the great creator gave us and enjoy each day that we get on this planet to the fullest, OK?

AMEN!!!!

Zsolt, thanks for these beautiful skins! Another reason to fly this extremely well done aircraft more often!

Cheers,
Huub
