Thank you Manfred and team for this beauty. I'll simply reiterate all of the above sentiments. Bravo. :salute:

I've been on another track for a few months and haven't painted any aircraft, but this one is just too good to overlook. Jankees, is there an actual paint kit or are we using the existing textures as a start?

Hey "G"... paintkit is over at flightsim.com... search for c11d_paintkit.zip

EDIT: Jan bet me too it! :icon_lol:

  • Anyone found the carb heat switch?
There isn't one, because it is Basler Bt-67 cockpit :jump:

I searced it while myself, and you can toggle it from one of the instrument panel windows where you can use other systems as well.

Drop them snakes over New Zealand lol. They pride themselves on having nothing deadly lol. Just attach a note Pressie from Aussie brother's lol. Wow dvj, excellent Antarctic capture and feel in your shot.

I can honestly see Manfred and his happy Dak team currently busselling around working on the US Navy variant the LC-117D :wavey:

With only 104 airframes the repaint choices are a bit limited, but fortunately a number of birds got picked up by civilian operators. To save others the time, here are a few links for possible interpretation:

Jankees:

It's so nice to see that your talented hand is being lent to this beautiful aircraft!

I'm all a-quiver at the prospects.:jump:

Yumm, a Yuma MCAS C117 sounds splendid as would a Corpus Christi USN/USMC C117 for training or a fictional US Border Patrol based from the Laredo USBP AVDET Station. There always RW there crying for a BT67 or Twin Otter.

I would recommend Steve Ginter's Naval Fighters series book on the C-117D. It's the newest one in the series. It covers all the airframes and has multiple pictures of most of them. There were only 104 airframes, but they were assigned and rotated all over the Navy and Marine Corps.

Absolutely top end freeware - of course - from Manfred & Co and every bit as satisfying to fly as the Connies. Congratulations.

Wikipedia says that Capital Airlines used to operate some back in the 50s.

The C-117 was a commercial dud though (at least in the continental US), as its operating costs were higher than that of a regular DC-3/C-47 and it was inferior to the then brand new Convairs.
