FSX Opening Music

The opening music in FSX, has anyone tried to change it ? And if so how do I do it ? I would like to hear some Stephen Stills "Treetop Flyer" when I open my FSX, to me this is flying music.

Without actually trying it I see that those audio files are located in the Sound/UIMusic folder. I'm guessing that you ought to be able to take your sound file, match the file format, and then rename it to one of those stock file names.

What he said.. I have done that many times.. even putting my own music in there..It was cool to hear my own.. Long live FSX

I believe dropping any wav file you want into Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sound\UIMusic will work. It'll show up in the FSX sound settings alongside the default music options.

I didn't realize there was opening music for FSX. It takes so long to start I go refill my cup with whatever and then put on the headphones once I choose a flight. Learn something new every day.

Whenever I do a fresh install of FSX, its the first adjustment I make - disabled as soon as possible.

There was a download available on Avsim or FlightSim.com which replaced two of the music files (FSX01 and FSX02) with two of the tunes from Topgun. It was rather good. There was a discussion about it on here at the time and as someone pointed out at the time, it was probably an infringement of someone’s copyright. I can’t tell you what the filename was, and I suppose it could have been removed

It's currently on Simviation too.

I've a bunch of my mp3's* as my FSX music. Just renamed them FSX01.wav to FSX06.wav (after backing up the originals) and they work perfectly.

*Currently using some ATC recordings,Wild Blue Yonder music and obligatory Top Gun music.

+1
It is also the first adjustment that I make on a fresh install of FSX. I don't turn on my speakers until the opening music is disabled.

I was spurred on by this post to change my opening music to 633 squadron which I downloaded via IMESH, What a mistake... IMESH is one of those PtP sites that installs all kinds of maleware that is impossible to remove using the usual removal software. I have spent the best part of an afternoon manually removing all traces of IMESH from the registry. Never again... but the music's nice.

Same here! Is there an opening tune for FSX????? Never noticed, don't need it! :wavey:

How can anyone not notice? It's turned on by default when FSX is started the very first time... :isadizzy:

Perhaps it did, my friend.......several years ago when i installed the sim. After that....no more!
I can remember all kinds of stuff, but that single first time FSX started on my PC a couple of years ago........Nope!

You can put any music you own into the FSX/sounds/UImusic folder, but there are some requirements I have found with my own fiddling.

-They must be in a .wav format
-They must be called FSX##
-It only goes up to 11 or 12, so delete some tracks if you must, and replace them.
