Forgive me but isn't that 13 years??:mixed-smiley-010:

D'you know, you're right!

Apologies Mr. B, I had taken the 19 years service, somewhat out of context!

The first Shackleton AEW conversion took place in September 1971. No.8 Squadron was reformed at Lossiemouth in January 1972; taking delivery of it's first AEW Mk2 Shackleton in April 1972; hence 19 years service!

A set of 'screenies' for Tim's benefit!

Hey, mate - why does your rotor look that sweet and accurate? When I use the Simshed Wessex, I slice the landscape. If any hints, please let us know!

Hi Manfred,
Honest answer is; it's just by luck really, and some careful choosing of the angle the screenie is taken from!
I've found with this Wessex, that at certain angles, and with certain backgrounds it does indeed look really very good! Other times, I get the awful silvery disc, or it pick up a background texture or something similar; the ground shadow of the spinning rotor can look horrible on the ground too!
Have a go yourself, it's quite fun setting up a shot sometimes; I don't have TrackIR switched on when I'm doing screen shots either, for better control of my view points!

Ah - well that explains a lot indeed. A shame that there are so few designers that design really interesting aircraft - no one wants a boring hundredth Cessna 172

I quite agree Manfred; in fact, I only had this conversation with Dave B regarding the AEW Mk2 only being available for FS9! It does indeed seem that all the really interesting aircraft are for FS9 and not FSX, let's keep our hopes up for the future 👍😉

Here I was, minding my own business, goofing around the area of Dimus' new scenery when SWMBO pop's in and looks at the screen..

She said "How can you fly with wings like that?"

"It's only a small airport so I've folded the wings" I replied.

"You are soo sad" she replied.

I rest my case:(

DaveB:)

Hey Dave! The guys at the club there would go berserk if they saw a Corsair landing and taxing in folding the wings!

Still doing Gee Bees.

Got a little hot rod influence going on with them lately (and a couple more paint ideas with that in mind). This one still needs a bit more done to it before it's "sharp dressed".
