Mount Vesuvius Joe The boss has been on holiday a couple of hours out of LIRN (Naples) and I was interested to see how the places she's visited looked in FSX. Vesuvius is part of a scenery pack which includes a super rendition of Pompeii (both are photoreal) and can be found at Flightsim.com (others too I'm sure). Look for filename Pompeii_italy.zip
Both Pompeii and Vesuvius are Sketchup 3D models but have been well optimised and sit on photo tiles. Lower res tiles are available in the pack but I didn't struggle on my old i5 There's a nice history of Pompeii included which is worth a read. There's a v2 version of LIRN available at Flightsim.com and Flyaway but I had a persistent error with one of the airport maps so I chased down the author and found he has his own site with a more up to date version. It's all WIP (LIRN) but uses custom rather than default buildings and is a good base to start your tour from
EDIT: that shot is deceptive. Vesuvius is actually twice the size shown in the screenie and HUGE. Gad knows how it would have looked had the top not blown off it in 79AD when it destroyed Pompeii!!!

Presenting a nice flight from CYQB Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport, also known as Jean Lesage International Airport located 6 nautical miles west southwest of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada to CYYZ Toronto Pearson International Airport located 14 miles northwest of downtown Toronto, Canada
Tail view of the airport, sunrise, and Air Canada's Jazz Air markings on the plane
Starting engines off the gate while snow dust is blowing on ground

Because of regulations of the forums not allowing more than 4 screenshots per post, please be kind enough to go to this hyperlink to see exciting snow blowing touchdown.
Wrong model variant, I know, but I just love this paint scheme (in-fact there is a repaint of this plane for the DCS Bf 109K-4 as well). Pictured here on a sortie from/around Duxford.
(The desert-colored Buchon in the middle of this first shot, which over the past several years has been based at Duxford and Humberside, has just recently been sold to a new owner in Germany, where it will now be based - rumor has it that it will be re-engined with a DB 605. The other Buchon remains based at Duxford, with Historic Flying Ltd. & ARCo.)
New textures/repaint, seen here on a flight from/around Stapleford. A distant cousin of mine owns this aircraft (though with the original British spelling of our surname).
