FSX Screenshots Here!!

This is and interesting trio of shots, they came about as full scale mock-ups of what the choices for tail art could have been but never were.
I can't name the units these could have ended up on but it gives you a few 'might have beens' if you are so inclined (of course you are) Paul.

Scruffy shots but they are around 40+/- years old.

More like 60 years...but 956 is a paint I did as 974....one of the one's I'll upload if I ever stop getting anal about rivet counting...;)

Sigh....started with the cannon....then went to the rear and located the air-brakes....worked forward via the external power panel....all the way forward....and came to the conclusion the cannon were too high..... don't quite have to do the whole lot again....just about a third of it....and while I'm at it will redo the zeus fasteners and rivets [again].... didn't help me that the nose is an 86...not a 27...;)

I did mention KRAFT syndrome......:pirate:
That nose is a problem, the insert is at least 3" deeper than an F86 and a tapered wedge at that.

What Spitfire Mark is that? I never saw one with 3 cannons/machine guns per wing, or that unusual configuration beneath the flaps. It also appears to have a Rolls Griffon engine by the 2 bulges on the cowling covers.

Spitfire MkIV prototype. They took a MkII and added a Griffon Merlin, six cannon and Fowler flaps. The flaps proved useless so they were dropped, the cannon made things very heavy and created vibration and handling issues. The MkV was a return to sanity.:engel016:

Is that the one at Darwin?? Was fortunate enough to visit there many years ago

It's A94-962 .... "RAAF CA27-62 Mk.32 - Avon Sabre s/n A94-962, 1AD ex CAC with Avon no.RR3540 to 78 Wing, 17 May 1957. Now painted as No.76 Sqn. Black Panthers aerobatic display, static display RAAF Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre." [from my Aircraft.cfg entry.....at least that bit's finished]...;)
Recently there was a travel show on Telly and I got a glimpse of the one in Darwin...so watched the show....same paint....but more importantly...I kinda need to get there myself as they have one of only 3 B52s outside of the US....;)
