GAS Lockheed 12A (Released)

And I think this version needs to be done:

Just have to dig for some more pics of this nice RCAF skin...
Rob?
Any source?

Not a lot Markus...
Same site, diff page - the L-212 prototype as it was in RCAF service (the 212 was the bomber/trainer version although this one did not have the manual turret while w/RCAF "The prototype Model 212 (12A NC18955) was sold to Western Air Express, but was then bought back to become a military model flying on an experimental license as NX18955; as such, it was given a new factory serial number (212-13). In some references, this second serial number led to the erroneous statement that there were 131 Model 12s built; the true number was 130. After testing, NX18955 regained its standard license status and was sold to Canada as CF-BQX. It was drafted into the Royal Canadian Air Force during the War and was afterward sold to a new U.S. owner as NC60755. ) http://rcaf.com/Aircraft/aircraftDetail.php?212-127

Two diff. 12's that show some detail:

Stripe, nose and cowls appear to be blue when compared to fin flash - # was probably black
and some history: http://www.ody.ca/~bwalker/RCAF_7650_7699_detailed.html

Also WIX has a thread on another one...

BTW colour pic of L-10 here:
http://flytoanothertime.com/Fly_To_Another_Time/Lockheed_10_&_12.html
appears to be a contradiction -- paint -red stripe may be OK but the fin flash shows 'red forward' and yellow ring on roundel. This is supported by this one:
http://1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/McLeod/5136.htm (note paint under wing) so there are obvious differences in the -10 & -12 paints

with more history here: http://www.ody.ca/~bwalker/RCAF_7800_7849_detailed.html

also, an RCAF L-12 apparently shows up in the James Cagney movie --"Captain of the Clouds"

Rob

Great stuff, Rob! Thanks a ton! :salute:
I think that's all I need to draw her into His Majesty's service...

@ Jamie:
Nice idea! I'll play with it.

Cheers,
Markus.
