German Jets Uploaded

The DXT3 SpinPropB18.dds that was originally provided with the Beech package is simply a black texture with a solid white alpha layer, so the spinning prop would be nearly invisible, and only the hub turning provides any animation.

Here's one you can use instead.

I had also intended to upload the two He-280's with the JP-04's but their XDP's are corrupt and I can't for the life of me see where. I've gone over them line by line twice now.:dizzy:

When that happens to me I usually find that I have used a special character in the description string section that is not allowed.

That P-40 looks nice! Do you have a list of models? Just curious what else is in there!

I struggled with the prop texture, trying different methods and variations of the alpha. I eventually settled on a DXT1 with exaggerated texture and alpha. That produced the effect I was looking for. It is not very noticeable in a screenshot but is prominent in sim. I am about to go over the He-280's XDP again, I'm sure I am overlooking something obvious but will keep at it. The second version has a 75mm flak cannon in the nose.:rocket:

I also have previously released models like the He-280, Fw-190, CW-21, I-16, Bvp-170 and P-36.

I'm not sure if I should jump in but I'am.

The talk of Luft46 aircraft has reminded that I did put th the gMax source for 2 Luft46 aircraft I did for CFS2 a few years ago. The Focke-Wulf Fighter with BMW 803 engine and Me 334.

Being made for CFS2 the models may be too crude for CFS3 and the textures certainly are as I can't texture my way out of wet paper bag but any one is welcome to mess with them or the other gMax models I have posted as well.

Thanks again for the kind words!

@Allen - Thank you for these, they are very impressive! Hopefully they will have a proper conversion for CFS3!

I did a new GAF skin for the Junkers GA this afternoon.

OK, I got the XDP's straightened out (WHEW!). Just have to work out a couple minor bugs and then they will be uploaded (finally:mixed-smiley-010:).

The flak gun aircraft required more attention but is good to go. While the 'plain' He-280 is skinned as the monotone protoype, it has a problem in that the bottom flap/aileron textures are mapped to the upper flap/aileron textures. This means no camo on the upper surfaces or a skin that is monotone all over.:sorrow: I will also upload Jon's He-280 Photoshop template so at least the flak gun model can be reskinned for those so inclined.

I don't have the package that Jon originally uploaded. I have the test models that he sent me while building these + the original GMAX models. The most current GMAX models are the ones being used here. Again, I don't know to edit these, I just know how to export them into M3D format. If someone can walk me through the texture mapping process, I will have a go at fixing the texture issue.

FYI: While searching the download section I noticed that NMG has re-uploaded many of Jon's original aircraft packages (no He-280 though).

when talking about german jets, is there even any list, which all they are available for cfs3?

as to the He 280, I could try to fix the issue, eventually show how to do it ☺

Yes sir, there is a list. See post #45 on page 2 of this thread.:mixed-smiley-010:

Any assistance with the texture issue would be much appreciated! I know nothing about mapping in GMAX but I am willing to learn.

Now that I think about it, wasn't there a GMAX tutorial once upon a time with instructions on how to do this?

AHH! I just found Hairyspin's tutorial on FSDeveloper.com and downloaded all six parts. Hopefully I can make something of myself now!

well, I meant rather something like a complete list of german jets (only) with links or such filter at warplane library - at any site. It could help to decide bit better to modders which with airplane to bother or not ☺
or are all the mentioned at SOH library and I am just blind? ☺ ... could be ☺

som tut for gmax skinning did my friend many years back, his name is Milan Lisner aka MLK. I could try to find it, but should be pretty well known among flightsimmers, I suppose.

Top of the list would be the Ta-283. The Me-P.1101 would be nice if better than the one we already have. The Horten rocket flying wing would be great along with any jet/rocket aircraft designed by Ho,Ta,Go,Me. Really enjoy the Luft '46 aircraft available. A nice German jet heavy bomber would also be most welcome. Just getting started with GMax and have a long way to go. Learning all i can on modeling and hopefully will learn how to do modelling in due time. More difficult than i thought but i'm not giving up. Got a lot of spare time to do this. Take care , Scott

I found the currently available P.1101 unflyable due to PIO until I edited the Elevtor Angle, and FFB Elevator Force in the air file.
