Gigantic FSX AI ship pack.

Hi
Here is the beta for the AI shipping routes for the Mexican Gulf:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s3yic62l8mp3uir/96A0-sDYIU

In case you download please leave your feed back - I only have the default scenery for the US Gulf Coast, and I would like to know how it works with other sceneries - freeware as well as payware.

The AI routes focuses around Galveston, Corpus Christi, and Mobile, but you will find traffic also all the way up to New Orléans and spread over the Mexican Gulf including cruise destinations like Cozumel and Playa del Carmen. The routes also adds additional traffic to the Caribbean Sea especially with some new cruise ships, which I had not done when I did my first route pack for the Caribbean Sea last year.
In order to use the files you need to download the ships from www.avsim.com, www.flightsim.com or www.simviation.com The routes uses ships from all three main packages "63 AI Ships and AI Ship Traffic", "75 AI Ships and AI Ship Traffic", and the new "130 AI Ships and AI Ship Traffic" uploaded last week - Galveston is e.g. visited by more than a 100 different ships during a one week cycle.

The Gulf Coast ports are slightly tricky because in all of them the ships most pass a narrow opening to enter the Gulf so one thing to look out for is collisions.

Installation is simple copy all bgl files from scenery/world/scenery in my dropbox to scenery/world/scenery FSX or P3D.

If I start a flight at approximately 1400 hrs EST and fly out into the Gulf of Mexico south of Pensacola what would the ETA of ships into the area?

I installed the beta file and the ship files from AVSIM.

If you follow the coast to the West from Pensacola at 14:00 local you would find 3 tankers outside the entrance to Mobile bay, a heavylife ship in the bay and another 3 ships in Mobile - it is not possible to give timings - the routes are long - some will have a ship passing every half hour, some every hour, some every six hours, and a few with large tankers there is only one ship on the route and depending on where you are at the route the tanker will pass with an interval of 2 - 22 hours...
If you don't find anything then go to Galveston and check there - if you find nothing there either you have an installation problem. In the manual there is a complete instruction on what to do if traffic does not show up. Most likely FS9 files in the vicinity or settings for ships below 5 %.

Henrik,i have to thank you again for all your work.
I enjoy your ship traffic from the beginning---great work!:applause:

I went to Galveston and it is alive with ships.

Very impressive.

I did about 5 carriers off NASP. I use them for vLSO practice.

I had one off of Jacksonville and Key West. I just never transferred the routes of P3DV2.1
I need to update them.

Again fantastic work.

Is there anyway to req some routes for Cuba please with naval ai around MUGM NAS??
Well, as I only have a Danish frigate and Norwegian Coast Guard ship in the project realistic Naval traffic in that area is complicated - but I was discussing with Lazarus to do something together, but it requires that other designers liberate some Navy ships for the project as I will not have time for any model making in the coming months. Some civil shipping on the other hand is not that difficult to add.

The new route update for the Mexican Gulf is now uploaded to www.avsim.com, www.flightsim.com and www.simviation.com - should be available in the next couple of hours. Routes are expanded compared to the beta version. There are more routes added to the Caribbean Sea and there are additional routes along the US South Coast - the pack also includes six typical US models of tugs and barges for river and channel traffic - and even if the main focus of the new routes are the Mexican Gulf I also included some additional traffic for the Hudson River and New York witch matches perfectly with the New York scenery from Drzewiecki Design.

A short update on the fourth package which is underway...

Currently I am working on a tall ship race with ships like Gorch Fock from Germany, US Coast Guard Eagle, the Norwegian Christian Radich, and a few more...

Already finished are ships like Maersk Alabama known from the movie Captain Phillips with Tom Hanks

And a whole series of ships form Aker shipyards

Sorry if it's a silly question, I installed these a while back but have had very little time to properly check them out but with a bank holiday weekend I do now.

Question is, do I need to set FSX AI ships settings to anything or are these separate from the in-game ship slider settings?

The setting must be above 5 % - all my ships are set to appear with ships & ferries at 5 %.

Have a nice weekend

A small patch for "130 Ai Ships and AI Ship Traffic" correcting two texture issues and two minor modelling issues is now available on simviation, avsim and flightsim.

63 AI Ships and AI Ship traffic for Europe and South America by Henrik Neilsen. I'm just going downstairs in a moment to install this one and try it out, and quit spamming the forum like I have no life:icon_eek:Ok ,I don't have a life. But.
Modern realworld civil ships, and a mighty load of them. The screens look fantastic, and I think I'm going to replace most of those bletchy default civvie ships.

Classic!

Those look gorgeous - esp the Eagle.

Question: these lovely ships are great for our current day environment. Any appetite for even a small number of "period" vessels for a number of simmers who fly in an environment set in the 50s or 60s? With a number of the Calclassic cities / airports either porting over well - and others being converted so they can added into FSX, this could be a really exciting way to "turn back the clock" to match the aircraft we enjoy flying in.

It needn't be anywhere near the volume of the existing packs - I'm thinking a 2-3 cargo ship types x 3-4 textures, 2-3 ocean liners x 3-4 textures - that alone could be a dozen distinct merchant / liner vessels. By substituting those into the AI tracks you've already created, you'd get that 50s/60s merchant vessel experience that could be very interesting. Since you have so much traffic (track volume wise) there is enough material to represent interesting periods of history involving merchant vessels in FSX - Suez, Cuban Missile Crisis, etc.

Ideas for merchant vessels:

I'll bet there are many folks who'd find this really interesting ...

Thanks for considering - but most of all thanks for all the great work you've done so far!
