Glowing Heat B-58 Hustler for FSX on Flightsim Store!!!

Hopefully someone can find what's causing the burners to disappear.....
Meanwhile, I'm switching attention to a 'photo-real' 2D panel - very early days....oodles to do...;)

If you're using the Glowingheat effects they're fine in themselves but even in your screenshot the inners are different to the outers....part of the AB trail isn't showing and thus flaring adjacent to the nozzles...you can see into them more easily.
In various 'goes' of my config the same thing happens with the flame....the burners are 'invisible' from that angle...and as with yours...the flame inline with the nozzle to the viewer is also missing.....but Engines 1 and 4 are always correct....;)

Maybe in this shot it's clearer....note closely....engine 2 has a burner visible....from this acute angle....but pan around further behind and it disappears...;)

I still think it's related to z display ordering, but everything I tried would not work, so I just put it down to the fact that the inner burners are under the influence of the modelled aircraft wings, and the affect of the outer effects and a display anomaly within the sim. Are there any other after burning jets with this number of engines under a delta wing to compare with that isn't a port over?

i spent a long time trying to fix this, but couldn't. I also wanted to rid the aircraft burners of the annoying effects placement issue that FSX displays by using a hybrid modelled and fx afterburner.

I hope someone gets more luck than me!

Very nice Jafo, count me in!

DaveQ

PS. - for what it's worth I use the ssw-fx reheat and don't have a problem....

Dave, what exactly is the SSW effect name?

What coordinates are you using?

It's the reheat from the SSW F-104. the file is ssw_fx_afterburner.fx. The lines are:

light.5 = 7, -15, -22.1, -2.2, ssw_fx_afterburner.fx
light.6 = 8, 7, -12.5, -3.2, ssw_fx_afterburner.fx
light.7 = 10, -15, 22.1, -2.2, ssw_fx_afterburner.fx
light.8 = 9, 7, 12.5, -3.2, ssw_fx_afterburner.fx

I don't have low and high engine RPM effects, but there again I'm a painter....:untroubled:!

DaveQ

Storm can you please post your LIGHTS Section for The burners?

light.5 = 7, -14, -22.1, -2.2, fx_Glowingheat_B-58_AB
light.6 = 8, 7, -12.5, -3.2, fx_Glowingheat_B-58_AB
light.7 = 10,-14, 22.1, -2.2, fx_Glowingheat_B-58_AB
light.8 = 9, 7, 12.5, -3.2, fx_Glowingheat_B-58_AB

light.9 = 4, 36,-0.35,2.8, fx_Glowingheat_B-58_vclight

light.10 = 7, -17, -22.1, -2.2, fx_ALPHA_F11_AB //<--- These are the edits I added using the old Alphasim F11 AB effects . Not sure is I adjusted the originals or not but I included the above lines so you can check
light.11 = 8, 5, -12.5, -3.2, fx_ALPHA_F11_AB
light.12 = 10, -17, 22.1, -2.2, fx_ALPHA_F11_AB
light.13 = 9, 5, 12.5, -3.2, fx_ALPHA_F11_AB

Storm....
Those are using the included Glowingheat 'gauges' in the panel to actuate effects.... the different 'light' [7,8,9,10] is the give-away.

The F11_ABs should still have the same visibility issue from a sight alignment from behind - the same 'black-hole' effect of nozzles 2 and 3 that is either an FSX issue or a specific modelling problem.

I'd even had a go at editing the originals to only function with 2 and 3 ... while using 'normal' effects for 1 and 4 ...and seemed to get more issues than I'd solve.

Rem'ing out all the 1,1,1,1 effects in the panel didn't solve it...nor did doing likewise with all the other lights in the aircraft.cfg...;)

Meanwhile....am having all sorts of fun [not] trying to find a gauge like the HSI [?] to the left of the RALT - to add to my 2D panel. [over the years my FSX 'stuff' has grown to about 200 gig]...
Ideally I'm trying to 'match' the gauges with the real aircraft....;)

A little more practice...Snoopy

I'm just fiddling around with Alpha Channels and a little color replacement, as I learn the ropes of repainting...CenturySeries, I hope you don't mind...I won't make this one available without proper permissions...Not even sure what the actual aircraft looks like in RL...Just a little fictitious fun! All WIP, of course.

Slowly getting there with the Panel....
...still gotta improve on lots of bits...and that 'thing' next to the Ralt.
Pit windows have an alpha...still have to animate the stick...;)

Real trouble is lack of definitive info on what some of the gauges actually were ...;)

I like that Rick:applause:

Looks better by the day...!:encouragement:

One thought - do we really need those MSFS icons??

DaveQ
Seems some peeps like them [they're on everything]...though when I get 'creative' I hook them into 'real' switches on the panel...;)

Panel is coming along...
Now has functioning Gear handle and Stick...and redid the gear lights to align correctly with the photo background...indexer reflection in glass...tidied up the fire-handles...
...still haven't found a suitable gauge for that thing left of the Ralt....;)

View attachment 7888

Eventually the gauges that don't have it will get glass...;)

Found another set of photos with info re gauges so could assign some I'd been unsure of.... seems that odd thing left of the Ralt was a clock in this ver...and the Ralt wasn't...it was a Tot Fuel Flow...

Getting knobs and buttons to function - and still remain close-ish to the original photo...need to redo the gauge glass refs...and yet to get the throttles functioning...;)

Alternate Snoopy I

WIP -- Adding some weathering to the engines panel lines, and some highspeed oil smears to the ailerons. I've decided to test out what bug spatter might look like on the gear tube covers...still very much WIP.

Those of us who worked on the original Alphasim version still have all the books. Do you need something looked up? Also keep in mind, are you working from a photo of a trainer or a bomber?

Indeed, although mine will soon be relegated to the top of the book shelf. The VC has gauges in their right places if you need a visual reference of an operational bomber.

http://50.137.56.231/b-58/crew_pilot.cfm
This is the page I found - with the list/placement of the gauges. Seems there was more than one 'layout' for the 58...a bit like the 105 [I have just about every book printed on the Thud] where I even saw the ATT/HSI placements reversed in an otherwise identical panel. It took quite a bit of fundamental rewrite of some xml [and graphics] to end up with my 2D of that one [learning on-the-go]...

Took me 13 'windows' to get all that to look right...alphas and masks for all sorts of things...but 'everything' functions...even the probe in 2D. The only disappointment was/is the internals of the canopy...I think I'll need to get to the US and con someone to let me get into one and take photos...;)

View attachment 8059

Note the mirrors...and the functioning reflections of them [and the gauges] in the canpy glass [ignoring they lift with the canopy opening....hadn't worked out how to replicate them as static AND disappear as the glass lifted....and yep, even the maplight and switch 'works'...;)

Frank...hi....thanks for the offer...;)

These two critters in this photo....finding a 'matching' Mach meter has been a no-go [so far]...and the 'thing' at the bottom...it's hard-modelled in the VC of the Glowingheat but it's not at all in the Alpha 58.... and those controls on the left panel...;)

Here's the photo that I started the panel from/with ...;)
