Golden Age Simulations FSXA/P3D Models Freeware on SOH

Once again, I have to say many thanks for these amazing models and the gift to the sim addicts :D

Among them all, the Stearman is an all-time favorite.

Both in the sim and in real life ... I've been flying this for the last 18 years, so I'm just a wee bit biased :D:D

I also want to thank you Spad54 and the rest of the GAS team for this very generous gift to the SOH community. It is greatly appreciated. I had purchased several of the GAS products over the last few years and kept on putting off purchasing a few more of the aircraft I had my eye on... so thanks again for this thoughtful gesture.

@PeteHam How the simulation and the real one compare?

They're pretty close.

I've flown 4 different Stearman here in NZ, 3 with metal fixed pitch props and 1 with a wooden prop.

There's subtle differences in each one, usually airspeed and RPM in climb and cruise speed, but general handling is good.

With the fixed pitch metal prop on our one, it gets overhauled, annually or 100 hrs, which means it gets removed and taken to the prop shop for x-ray and balance. The prop gets removed from the hub and when it's re-assembled, I notice if the pitch is slightly different it can make a big difference in the climb speed/RPM and in the cruise at my normal cruise power setting.

Currently our one cruises at 80-85 kts at about 1850 rpm, but depending on the prop pitch setup, over the years, it can be anywhere from about 75 - 90 kts in the cruise.

But in saying that, the GAS Stearman is as close to the real deal as you can experience.

Well done GAS Team.

Pete.

I remember purchasing the Lockheed Model 12A for FS2004 years ago and also purchased the Boeing Stearman PT/N2S for FSX. Thanks for releasing these incredible aircraft.

Uploaded the Monocoupe 90 package for FSX P3D today

Thank you Paul! Perfect for flying around Seattle, WA (with BlueSkyScenery here, near Floathaven 0W7):

The Kinner is a great model, however I was missing the beautiful green/créme livery, which was included in the MSFS version of this model.
So I decided to do a fictional livery in these colours.

For me personally the bright green colour of the crackcase was a bit too bright. Based on what I found it the internet, the bright green is authentic, but as the livery is already fictional, I decided to change the colour of the cranckcase as well.

Again on the internet I found pictures of dark green cranckcases, an olive green one, blue/grey versions and there is even a light grey/blue version in the Rhinebeck collection. So I did all these colours and as the livery is already fictional I did a polished version as well.

I will pack the repaint and will include all textures for the crackcase colours mentioned. Hopefully I will be able to upload this package somewhere in the next few days.

Cheers,
Huub

(In case you wonder, the registration does belong to a Kinner, but to a Kinner Sportser B.)
