IIRC, this kind of configuration was used only on the F6F-5N night fighter variant. The standard F6F-5 was fitted with six .50 guns.

P.S.: I have a question. Morton made few years ago some beautiful late-war skins for the OH model by The B24Guy. I'd love using Morton's master repaints, did the texture mapping change in this model?

I'll grab them and add them to the download.

The mapping was fix to repair distortion. You can see the change done in this thread.

I'm going to also do a version that dosen't have windows and can do a night fighter version with the wing pod.

Downloaded and tried out the V2 test and it's a winner. I'll replace with the finished version today. Great going Allen. I hadn't had any interest in the F6F for years. Now with your latest it's back on the flight line.
 
The no window F6F-5 is on the way. It is much like the stock F6F model but has all of the texture distortion fixes I did for the early window F6F-5 already uploaded.

F6F-5 window version has been updated!
Updated model to fix error that delated part of the wing/wingtip when using DTX3 format decal_insignia_t.bmp and/or decal_insignia_D.bmp.

Description: This rebuild of the stock F6F-3 Hellcat fixs many of the Hellcat texture distortion errors that the stock model has. Come with most of the bells and whistles like animated parts and breaking parts. Model is Multi LOD use damage texture logics as well.

Texture is of Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat No. 22 VF-19, USS Lexington CV-16, October 1944. Pilot: Ens. A. A. Brauer by Captain Kurt/Morton Includes optional Prop texture by Kelticheart.

Great addition!

I just noticed the ubiquitous Asiatic pilot face in Wolfi's otherwise wonderful pilot figure... used
on the Hellcat remake... so I decided to do a little plastic surgery to turn him into a more "American" looking countenance...
and also... do a little "tailoring" on the flight suit...flying helmet, etc.
I you care to use these textures just PM me... available to anyone providing there are
no "copyright" infringements...
