Gypsy Moth

Coming soon to the "Pond" (www'classicbritishfiles.com) two more Of Uncle
Edgar's aircraft one a prewar Twin and one a postwar Single. for FS9/FSX

Tantalising indeed....any clues to share with us what these may be....:gossip:

Prewar twin.....Q6?

Post war single......Proctor, Prentice, Provost.....EP9?

Just fishing....no idea what is coming...perhaps we will be told soon.

BTW, isn't it about time a nice Auster J1 was modelled by the clever ones ( I have good 5-view drawings for anyone clever enough )......after this wonderful Moth we are being spoilt with these superb little gems.....much appreciated indeed.

Regards.

Give these polished walnut images a try...they are not copyrighted! Took a picture of a walnut piano and cropped out a couple areas of nice wood.

Also came across this free ware wood texture creater. Haven't really worked with it much yet, but it looks interesting.

OBIO

Sorry I hadn't noticed this before Obio. The Walnut looks great! Do you have it as a larger file?

Cheers,

Roger.

Due to the limited time I have, I haven't been able to finish this one. But as you can see I'm still making progress. I intend to upload the paintkit as well for those who like to add shadow to their repaints.

As the model is very shiny it is difficult to make "silver" textures which look realistic both at the sunny side as on the shadow side. Therefore I have asked some good friends here to take a look at these textures first.

After minor adjustments following their comments I think they are about ready.

Cheers,
Huub

They are in the queue. I'm afraid FSX can't handle the alphas from this repaints therefore you can't use these textures in FSX. For the 601 sqn version I'm working on a small fix, which however can't be done for the RAAF version.

Enjoy!

Huub, as for the FSX, compress them to DDS. First, there will be no issues, second, you will save few fps. I reworked my repaints this way and they work fine. Moreover, i tweaked mdl file a bit to reduce strong specular.

Lucas,

Thanks for your remarks, however I used alphas to make the factory plate invisible. This works in FS2004, however in FSX you will see a hole in the fuselage. In the RAF version I can work around that by "painting" this plate as a part of the fuselage.
On the RAAF version this is at the location of the aircraft number. As the plate is used on both sides I can not make it fit on both sides.

Hopefully this makes any sense,

Huub

Reddog,

When you go to Flightsim.com and do a query on "Moth" it is the second file from the top. The file name is dh60moth.zip.

When you prefer to download it from Avsim.com, you can do a query on the filename dh_60_moth_pkg.zip

You can also follow this link and get the package from our own library here at the Outhouse (Click on "link" to open the link).

Enjoy,
Huub
