Ah, there is some hex editing that can be done in cases where a.more.reflective effect is desired. Been a while since I looked at it, but I don't think anything is out of reach with the right combination of edits and textures.
I'm still here. Moving forward again with an update and a little tease this time. Been working on these for at least an hour a day since the Texan/Harvard was uploaded. Had to correct a couple of mistakes and then had bump map trouble. Working on exterior cockpit textures at the moment but still have to make some minor adjustments to each skin before release. Also have to figure out why non-reflective parts on a bare metal skin are reflective. May do a bit more weathering as I know some you dislike factory fresh skins.
Personal Rant-Researching correct tail banners and roundel types on Commonwealth liveries requires a couple of aspirin and a few shots of rum!
Not to be redundant, but these are still on track for release. All necessary permissions granted, including UV cockpit lighting by MajorMagee and new engine sounds from Elmo Slack(!).
The only slow down now is having to go through five different templates and correcting a blaring mistake. Also, taking time to place new effects into the appropriate positions.
Just uploaded the first one (an SNJ-4), which should be available once an Admin approves it (assuming I didn't screw something up! Been awhile since I uploaded something). Would have been out a little sooner but I've been Ill the past couple of weeks ().
All subsequent stand alones will require downloading the SNJ-4 and it's needed harvard_shared folder for redundant files (sound, generic textures). I did this to help save space as it's 45+MB.
Sincerest thanks to all who made or contributed to making the Harvard/Texan a reality in CFS3:
Original 3D Model - Emmanuel Baranger
CFS3 Model Conversion - Thudman
CFS3 Model Update - Pat Pattle
Sound Files - Elmo Slack (kind permission granted)
UV Cockpit Lighting - MajorMagee
Cool! My only thought is that the specular could be brightened a little of a bit more shine. The bump mapping is really nice and the paintwork is as well!
Do you happen to have one that might be appropriate for flying around the UK circa 1939-1941?
