Has anyone purchased the Virtavia version of Alphasim's T-6 Texan

Has anyone purchased the Virtavia version of Alphasim's T-6 Texan

I ordered and received Virtavia's T-6 Texan from FlightSim Pilot Shop and am thoroughly enjoying it, but I read in the features listed for it at the shop that you can toggle the rear passenger/pilot to disappear; anybody know how to do this? Alsom does anybody know if it comes with a paint kit? I didn't notice if it did or not when I did the initial set-up on my PC.

Thanks, as always,

N.

Thanks, guys. I'll try out the "W" command and I think the Alphasim paint kit will work as skins made for the Alpha T-6 work beautifully on the Virtavia version, so that hasn't changed it seems.

Virtavia = Alphasim

Yes, but ......

There seem to be instances when changes have been made, and I don't know if theywere for cosmetic/copyright reasons or are more significant. For example, I purchased all of the Phantom packs back in the day, when Phil was still Alphasim; when they went freeware I picked up the Virtavia branded installer (packrat mentality I guess - and btw I HATE installers, a real pita when you have more than 1 FS setup) - the .cab files have been renamed from Alpha to Virtavia. Now was that just cosmetic, or were there changes? I'm guessing it was just for trading purposes, maybe for legal reasons, but I can't be sure.

I purchased the AlphaSim F-22 Raptor back when it first came out. Subsequent versions and panel mods were released later. When I got a new PC back in February, rather than copy the Alpha F-22 from my gaming rig, I just downloaded the Virtavia version when it was released as freeware.

Virtavia changed a few things on the panel including some pop-ups, and they removed the working radar, which for the most part, I thought was a nice feature. All else seems to be the same.

OK, used the Shift-W to toggle the two pilots just fine, but is there a way to toggle just the rear seater? Me likes to fly alone...

As for the re-paints all the ones I've seen - and used - so far are the earlier Alphasim renditions and look very nice. I won't really be able to do any repaints myself as I don't have access to any graphics programs like PhotoShop but I wanted the paint kit in the event if I do farm out a repaint request and that person doesn't have the files to work with. I'm planning on an SNJ-5 in an ersatz civi/Royal Canadian Navy scheme of overall dark, metallic midnight blue with RCN roundels, white markings and stenciling, polished chrome prop spinner and ring on the leading edge of the engine cowling, unpainted metal canopy framework, and some simple nose art dedicated to the people and town of Goderich, Ontario, which suffered an F3 Tornado earlier this week where one person was killed, 37 injured, and the center of the town heavily damaged. Goderich is also home to Sky Harbor Aircraft, which is one of the top warbird paint scheme firms in North America.

I have this plane and I just went in and looked at the read-me file. There is nothing that specifies being able to turn the 2nd pilot off (the bloke in the back seat). It says that BOTH can be toggled on/off with the water rudder key (Shift-W). My version is the ALPHA model so maybe Virtavia's version offers this option in addition to everything else.

This comes under the shameless plug category: too late now I imagine, but the SkyUnlimited AT-6/Harvard package allows you to turn the guy in back on and off.

Purely cosmetic I can assure you. Especially in the case of the F-4's since they were going to freeware. I imagine though that the reason for the change was that they were being considered as a payware release and then it was decided they weren't up to snuff. Otherwise what's the point? Plus Alphasim as a flightsim addon brand isn't being used anymore so everything coming out the door needs to say Virtavia for name recognition purposes.

On the F-22 package the radar was by Eric Marciano and originally coded specifically for that model. You may remember the problems people has with repaints zapping the radar. Something to do with the aircraft.cfg trick but anyway, since it was a payware product itself, the radar was left out of the freeware repackage.

The original T-6, since it was for FSX as well, never had the option to remove an individual crew member. Since the Virtavia repackaging was only that nothing was done other than name change work. If you want that feature you need John's SkyUnlimited version.

Sorry for the late reply, just saw this thread in a search for something else.
