Heatshimmer FX

I am trying to find a decent heatshimmer effect for fighter jets.

On my last attempt I ended up sticking the "fx_Heatshimmer5" from the AW139 helicopter into an A-10 smokesystem.

It works fine, but is just too in my face! Does anybody know any alternative solution? View attachment 8976 Thanks!

Hi, Claudius24

I've done exectly that, and no results are shown.
I'm looking for something similar to the "Project Airbus" Heatshimmer, hardly visible but still present.
Unfortunately the PA heatshimmer is not as an .fx file extractable.

also look at 'revspray.zip' i love it on my jets with reversers, adds a nice water spray on reverser deployment and only works in rain or snow :)

I'm quite partial to the 'heat' effects that come with most IRIS jets, the free-ware ones too. The names differ dependant on which model it came with, but always have a 'heat' in the name. They are an engine start up effect, so have a plume off smoke for start up, but they also have a lingering heat shimmer that looks okay to me and seems to last indefinitely.

I am with Jamie on this one

The good old DSB products now Iris have some nice Heat Shimmer Effects, especially the Hawk:salute:
