Helldiver or Shrike

Hi guys,

I'm looking for something different to paint up.... What's the nicest Helldiver or shrike out there ?

I just got the VB SB2C - are there others ?

Cheers,

Pete

I can send you a FAA scheme if you fancy doing something a little different.

Things are progressing well on the Helldiver. A bit more work on the fuselage and then onto the wings and damage textures. Depending on how things go, I'll likely just do one or two Helldivers and a Shrike....

Good choice, Pete.
Wolfi`s Helldiver is a nice piece of canvas.

There is no reason, why it was neglected regarding additional skins yet.

I am looking forward to these new dress(es)!

Hi Jaxon,

I can't imagine any reason either.... the texture mapping on this girl is amongst the best I've come across (for the fuselage & wings at least).

On that basis alone I'd give it 99 / 100.

But.... who did the flight model... :Banane47: .... lol

Cheers,

Pete

Hi guys,

Thought I'd post an update pic.....

Things have taken longer than I anticipated.... I've ended up creating four template sets for the tri-colour, dark blue, ASW and RAAF OD, respectively. All these templates have been scratch built and have five .psd files each

The tri colour is close to completion, the ASW about half done. The others are about a third done.

Hav'n stacks of fun.... sorta.... bloody hot down here....

Will somebody put some shiny paint on this airplane. It was never flat paint. It was as shiny as a brand new car.

There's an aussie saying that comes to mind..... but instead I'll put it politely....

Go take a flying leap.....

It's CFS2, not FS9/FSX.

Helldiver, these are Army aviator guys on here, not Navy! :ernae:

The AAC had to paint everything flat. They had no shine!

Navy guys like shine!

Looks like another winner Pete....:ernae:

Helldiver, in CFS2 as in FS, shine can only be accomplished in the mdl file, not the paint job. You'll need to download Archisoft's and Morten's mdlc utilities and set them up in the same folder. Using these tools in tandem you can easily change the specular and power of a mdl's shine, thus achieving a "glossier" finish to any paint job on any model.

I'll say.

I just reloaded the Helldiver into a new Defense of Japan installation, so I'm looking forward to the new textures for some action in the Ryukyu and Volcanic Islands.

I just gotta remember to keep that airspeed up on the final approach to the carrier.

The Navy enjoyed the 15 MPH that they got with shiny paint. The landing speed of the SB2C is 85 to 90 MPH depending on the air temperature.
