How to get non-marketplace 2020 addons into 2024

As the title suggests - how do you move content between the two sims? Do you just simply copy the community folder into the the 2024 equivalent?

Yes you can do that and it will work. This means that you will be able to see the content in your sim but not necessarily fully functional as there are compatibility issues.

I believe however that the best way is to use the Addon Linker tool. This way you can have one folder where you keep your addons installed and point to them either from 2020 or 2024 or both. It will save you lots of HD space.

I have used Addon Linker for both 2020 and 2024. It works very well. Just remember that there are now two versions, 2020 and 2024. They can both use the same database (folders where add-ons are stored) but use the appropriate version for each sim.

I moved my 2020 Edwards AFB freeware scenery directly to the 2024 community folder with no issues. But other sceneries, payware and freeware do have some issues. Orbix Alaska mesh has some very odd undulating behaviors when flying over it so I removed it. I suggest trying one folder at a time vs. a dump of content. With a pending update sometime in the near future to the entire 2024, it might be worth waiting before doing anything.

Thanks Dimus :) will give that a go! Have you tried your Beale scenery in 2024?
It works by abt 98%. There are some glitches of which I have fixed almost all. Just one remains which is the Blackbird hangar animation. It is however quite useable as is, and looks nicer in 2024 rendering.

Addons Linker is the way to go!

You can create a new folder for 2024-specific Community stuff, and also add your 2020 addons folder to the 2024 version of Addon Linker.

That way I can only include "verified" 2024-compatible stuff in my 2024 addons folder, but I can easily select any 2020 add-on and enable it to try it in 2024.
