Hype Bus, Jump on it -FS2024

I'll definitely get it, but will run it side by side with MSFS2020. Not completely convinced by their "cloud strategy".

I haven't seen much in the way of hype yet - Asobo are very tight-lipped about it, in my view. I will get FS2024 eventually, but FS2020 is running very nicely at the moment, and if SU15 delivers on Thursday, that'll see me through to the end of the year. What a time to be a flight simmer - just incredible.

I used to play simcopter, im stoked they are going that direction. Im a little uneasy about having to play career to buy planes, maintenance them etc, hopefully in free flight you wont have too.

I hope someone comes out with mission editor/script
- id make a jet intercept mission where you scramble to intercept a no fly zone

I've had an FS version in the computer since the mid-80's. Yep, keep on buying them! LOL! I'm laying off on buying anything else for 2020. 2024 version isn't that far away!

It's a wait and see. Huge bummer if a lot of downloads in my community folder will be broken. Remains to be seen how the payware developers align their current products to the new sim. Zero interest in "missions". And finally, if 2024 is tilted mostly toward X-box users and arcade style play, then forget it entirely.

Supposedly they are adding assists, but 1000% I'd bet you can remove them. I am not a fan of the UI changes they make for xbox. Like the glowing hightlight around every cursor your mouse points at, I know they did that for controllers, UI is like a forza motorsport game. But from what I hear, all payware should automatically convert with the option for Devs to scale them up with new technology.

Awesome interview, also salty it was in Houston and I didnt go.
Las vegas this year, 3 day event at the RIO

Like every MS flight sim before it, it'll be miles ahead in some aspects (mostly visual) and disappointing in others (mostly true aircraft behaviors) but knowing that before going into it
might alleviate some of the aggravation...
I look forward to exploring the world of MSFS2024 though it might require its own dedicated PC - I'm not sure there's room enough on one rig to hold both and I've already invested too much in this sim to just dump it for the new girl

They have stated that "virtually " all current 3rd party addons will transfer, so moving up shouldn't cost that much.

Is the current FS2020 as modular as FSX, i.e. cfg files, .AIR, etc.? I have no shame in admitting I have modded payware, expensive payware, that wasn't even remotely close to accurate.

Yes it is, there are actually more cfg files per aircraft, but that makes it more difficult to change them coherently.

But, there's always a but, the cfg files of stuff bought through the marketplace cannot be edited because they are encrypted.

Cheers,

I am wondering where I will put it. I have a 2 TB M2 drive dedicated to MSFS and DCS. It is already 2/3-3/4 full. I don't think you can buy a larger M2 drive. At least without remortgaging the house.
