Actually they never claimed this. They committed to the MSFS franchise for the next ten years or more, not MSFS (2020) specifically.MSFS (2020) was hailed as a 10-year flight sim...

Then I stand corrected.Actually they never claimed this. They committed to the MSFS franchise for the next ten years or more, not MSFS (2020) specifically.
...the plan is for many years to come. At least a handful. Let's put it that way. That's probably a safe way to say it.
And I actually had thought of making a slide for the presentation, all the things that we continue to update. When you really look at what's going on lately, we went from a very heavy Sim Update cadence [editor’s note: 33 updates in 33 months] to, you know, we added more elements.
We added city updates. We added aircraft and avionics updates. […] it didn't need massive SIM updates all the time. So right now, we're doing like one or two a year. And we think we're going to do something like that going forward one or two a year as needed, frankly.
And then the other things will be avionics updates, city updates, world updates. And we're going to keep that cadence. I have no interest in changing the cadence.
So, no change when people said, oh, we didn't promise 10 years. Yeah, well, that's what we're doing.
That is awesome. No matter what your age, do what you can that fulfills you. I did an little underwater photography while snorkling with my wife in several areas of the world. My problem is that I am not a good swimmer. Think of Michael Phelps's body morphology. Mine is the exact opposite. I have small feel, huge heavy legs, and I float as well as rock. My wife glides through the water. I, on the other hand, beat it to death. I tell people that I swim like Moses. I part the water. So, I will take pictures on dry land, thank you.I waited a long time to upgrade to MSFS 2020, but probably won't this time. If the majority of what I own transfers over, I'm not sure there's a reason on my end to wait.
On the photography topic, at 70 yrs old, I just started getting back into it a bit. My subjects are a bit wetter than birds which I also take pics of. I started open water cageless shark diving a little while back.

Looks like I may be investing in a new M2 drive. Thanks for the heads up.
Yeah big fan of the ORBX and global ship + oil rig announcement. I fly almost exclusively on the gulf coast, bigtime news for meSo cool to see them recognizing the best add-ons from the third-party community and incorporating them in MSFS2024! Henrik Nielson’s Global Ship AI Traffic, We Love VFR team working with OrbX on POIs. All started with them recongizing Working Title’s contributions and bringing them in…
Also a few planes I paid for (Twin Otter, Optica, Vision Jet) now included in the sim, but hey, I got plenty of use out of them for the money in FS2020.
So excited for this after seeing all these new features in the core sim! All the folks who wasted so many hours whining that missions meant FS2024 was turning into an Xbox game were just Abe Simpsoning into the wind…
Edit: Oooh, Mike Patey’s new DracoX coming to the sim before he even finishes the real thing! Fun!
Edit edit: Let the tasteless 737 Max jokes begin!
Long ago M$ said that there be no pew-pew's, pow-pow's, or boom-boom's in their flight simulators. MS Combat Flight Sim 3 was the last flight sim that allowed combat.They're using a lot of outside partners to create all this content (as in MSFS2020). The way they make it sound is that a lot of the current add-ons would be superfluous. I'm "worried" this will mean either of 3 things:
a) the price of the base sim will go up;
b) we'll actually be getting a "light"-version of all this promised content in the base sim, and the devs will offer a "full-fledged" version as payware;
c) this content will be a additional payware (Marketplace-style).
We'll have to wait and see. My bet is on option b.
P.S.: surprised no one asked about military aviation, but I guess Microsoft's stance will be the same as with MSFS2020.
Lawman, I tend to agree with your options. With the flight planning addon, the extra aircraft (hopefully good quality) and the many other features mentioned in the Developer's presentation, I wouldn't be surprised if the top of line version isn't almost $200. There's a lot of expensive features listed there.They're using a lot of outside partners to create all this content (as in MSFS2020).
